The 911 call has really poor audio of the background noise (the sreaming in the background.) I could not make anything out at all:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/special/nation/last-minutes-trayvon-martin-911-calls/index.html

I'm sure that this matter has been thrashed to death in other Zimmerman threads, but the idea of a heavy-set, armed, fully-adult male and security professional, screaming for help at a voice-pitch that people can mistake for that of a teenager, as a result of being attacked by an unarmed skinny 17 year old . . . at first sight seems a bit astonishing. Just a bit.

GUILTY!!!!!!
heheh

Actually, it wasnt you. I know that upsets you greatly.

It was about setting up sides, pointing fingers at a select group and saying "These are the elite of this group, they never do wrong!"

So, of course I will take exception and I quickly pointed out the fallacy of that position.

You dont have a problem with being put on a pedestal in an attempt to shut down other voices?

I would.

not going to let you goad me into ANOTHER pissing contest, nice try though!

Your view makes sense to me, but I myself couldn't hear anything clearly in the background of the audiotape. Pundits are predicting an acquital. The poll results in the other locked thread suggest either an acquital or a hung jury.

When photos of Tayvon Martin were shown in the courtroom, his mother was outside. It was too painful for her to see them.

And yet that is the determination of the PROSECUTIONS expert witnesses.

No, it was not. The prosecution's audio experts were not allowed to testify and their conclusions were that it was not Zimmerman and that is was probably Martin.

DaddySatyr -> RE: Zimmerman Threads -- Quite Complaining to the Mods (7/5/2013 4:23:02 PM)

It's the same thing that's been going on, here forever. There's a contingent that enjoys a certain amount of "lee-way" that has a tactic of nit-picking and reporting the silliest little things when they feel a thread isn't going "their way".

Enough tickets get a thread shut down and that's how those particular people chose to "win" a thread. There's no thought to proper debate. When you can't argue the facts, just say the person who presented the fact is on drugs or mentally ill or a God worshipper (heaven forbid!). Win at all costs and don't worry about how you damage a person's reputation. Don't worry about common courtesy.

Personally, I think if a person is met with a personal attack, the violator should enjoy an automatic 7 day vacation and a link to the Harvard Debate Society rules.

That won't be very effective though because some people see mud-slinging and strawman(ing) as an actual tactic. I pity them.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

Rule -> RE: Zimmerman Threads -- Quite Complaining to the Mods (7/5/2013 4:24:00 PM)

I would expect that it is Zimmerman yelling for help, multiple times.

BamaD -> RE: Zimmerman Threads -- Quite Complaining to the Mods (7/5/2013 4:29:34 PM)

No, it was not. The prosecution's audio experts were not allowed to testify and their conclusions were that it was not Zimmerman and that is was probably Martin.

The prosecution brought them in not the defense.
Some of the prosecutions "experts" were not allowed because they used "unproven science"

Oh, I know you do but for some, it is their stock-in-trade.

You and I have disagreed in minor ways, a couple of times but it has never devolved. Unfortunately, with the "anointed ones", that isn't the case.

They engage in all kinds of tactics that not only violate TOS but also common courtesy and accepted debate practice. Their opinions become useless by their own abuse of decency.

Unfortunately, they seem to enjoy a certain impugnity because they're ALWAYS around. Actually, I believe that one of the people I'm referencing is either a moderator or a "special friend" to one of the moderators.

I know I reported a post once (about a month ago) and the post was edited before the moderator could get to it. Excellent timing, there.

I've also had tickets just simply "disappear". Nothing nefarious, of course. It's just coincidence.

Bullshit! There's not that much coincidence on the planet.

Peace and comfort,

Michael

You dont have a problem with being put on a pedestal in an attempt to shut down other voices?

How was that an accusation against you?

But, ya know, on second thought... never mind... it really doesnt matter. You answered my question already.

by IMPLYING I take pride in trying to silence other people

a CLEAR attempt to try to goad me into a response so you could incite a flamewar between us

sorry, I am not playing that game with you anymore!

did I now? maybe someone else here can interprete the supposed "answer" I gave

is there anyone else here who feels my response "answered her question" and if so would they please enlighten?

Wow, you missed the mark there.

Did YOU make the list of names? Nope. So how are YOU putting people on pedestals in an attempt to silence others, hmmm?

yeah I missed the mark alright!

a moment ago you accused me of refusing to answer your question and now it seems like you are saying the question was not directed at me

HUH????

tazzygirl -> RE: Zimmerman Threads -- Quite Complaining to the Mods (7/5/2013 5:31:25 PM)

I asked ...

You dont have a problem with being put on a pedestal in an attempt to shut down other voices?

Being put... means someone else put you there....

why were you, and others here, put on that pedestal?

In an attempt to shut people up who disagreed with the poster.

I asked you how you felt about being put on that pedestal.
