Hi, does anyone know where I can buy a new posey straight jacket in the UK? There was a place online a few years ago that I used to know, but it has since closed.

Cheers for any responses :-)

I just found a company selling them in the USA (please see link) but you have to get an export license for it, which I'm guessing, I couldn't obtain.

Has anyone in the UK ever bought one of these or had problems with customs?

Did they tell you why you would need to get an export license for it??
That sounds strange to me
If I come across anything else I will let you know in your mail:)

Thanks Lucylastic :-) the second link you posted there actually states they can only ship to licensed facilities but other places just need an export license. Had a quick look into it yesterday, any product that is intended to be used as a restraint by the police force has to have an export license. Don't think there's a problem getting one but it's hassle.

thanks for your links

Other than countries the US fears may abuse restraints (or torture devices according to the language) people outside the US can receive an export license even for a single strait jacket or any restraint. The problem is that it is a lot of paperwork (confusing terminology on the forms) and takes 2-3 months and is a pain in the ass process to sell a single restraint.

It's a dumb regulation but the penalties are severe for not following it.

Edited to add, it is legal to ship restraints to Canada.

You can buy Posey Straight Jackets from Amazon in the US. Not sure if the UK version sells them buy worth a try

jola37 -> RE: Posey Straight Jacket (8/22/2013 3:03:17 PM)

Cheers mummyman321, I think I exhausted all UK routes for this particular item. You can get different makes in the UK but I wasn't really keen on any of them, either too flimsy or too fetishy (leather/rubber) for what I wanted.

Am just starting to explore longterm bondage, I have been discovering this really is one of my main kinks. I know the posey has been designed to be safe, when used in this manner, it has a wide neck opening and I believe it doesn't need to be done up too tightly to be effective.

If the UK version of Amazon does not have it try switching to the USA version of Amazon and see if you can order it. I made frequent trips to the Germany and UK (actually I in Germany for work now). I would see a movie their not available in the USA to rent or buy. Then I learned I could go to the UK version of Amazon and order the movies and other products only available in the UK. On the main Amazon page you go to the bottom of the page and it will have other countries listed there. Amazon USA has the Posey Straight Jacket actually from Posey.

Thanks again mummyman321. just to say again, I have just paid for one, bought it from the USA on Monday. Don't know when it will arrive yet. I bought it from erestraint.com.

Literally as soon as I'd paid for it, one cropped up on Ebay lol. This is after a longtime looking. Typical! Still, got a good price for my new one as the exchange rate is good at the moment. With delivery and taxes it's under £200 brand new. The one on Ebay went for over £200 2nd hand, not including shipping :-) It seems likely that if I don't get on with it, I've a chance to make my money back on it hopefully.

Great tips there for getting the best from Amazon. I must admit I've never used it yet (I use ebay but it seems like the same stuff is for sale on both sites).

Glad to say, it finally arrived a few days ago :) Took about a month to come, was kept in UK customs for a week (maybe slow processing?) and I had to also pay £40 import tax. Had to queue up for it at the collection depot, was dreading it being openly packaged, but to my relief, it came in a smallish cardboard box.

For me, it was worth the wait and the work getting it, it feels great on :)
