I have recently taken on a slave, and will be formally collaring her in about a weeks time, we have agreed that I should give her a new slave name, however I am having a bit of 'writers block' so to speak! Was just wondering what other masters (not gorean) have given to their slaves? I know ultimately it is down to me and my preferences but I would love to hear ideas, ie do I go for a pretty girls name that I like, something more exotic with a hidden meaning, or maybe something a bit more..ahem..obvious! Would love to hear your experiences!

Since you realize you do not want a name from Gorean based on one man´s fantasy.

So I have a suggestion for you, why not use a name from ASA belief or Asatru, it is an old belief from the Viking period, and there are girl names among the Nordic gods.

I guess you already know Thor with the hammer, Thor is the son of Odin and Fjørgyn. He is the mighty god of thunder, the symbol of force and power. Thor is married to the gold lured Sif. Sif is the goddess of vegetation.
I've always liked the name Sif, slave name from ASA belief or Asatru will give the name of a strong history, and it is from a time where people were really slaves

Freja Odin's raven.
Love Goddess Freja. Freja is love and fertility goddess of the Vans family. As we have just heard, she is the daughter of Njord. She has eight sisters and twin brother Freyr. She lives on Folkvang where she receives the dead warriors who fall in battle, but has not been found worthy to come to Valhalla. Freja is married to Od (possibly Odin's doppelgängers). A few days after the wedding takes Od out on a long journey - and has not yet returned. When Freja mourns Od, she cries tears of gold. Enamored couple sacrifices to Freja to ensure their love.
When Freya going on a trip, her car prestressed two cats. She can also wear a feathers and fly like a falcon. The vain Freja had four dwarfs to make gold jewelery Brisingamen. She offers them gold and silver jewelery, but dwarves insists that she is to get the jewelry must spend a night with each of them. It goes Freja help (and we know that her husband was out on a long journey). The piece was once stolen by Loki but recovered in the battle of Heimdal. Lovers who sacrifice for Freya. Together with Nanna and Frigg hear Freja to goddesses.

I've had a dog named Freja. and I also had a girlfriend named Freja.

Well it was just a thought

I disagree entirely. Using a religious name from a religion you don't believe is just Nasty as hell. It's rude at best to all those believers. Asatru folks are at least as devout as any Christian. Leave their shit alone. Appropriating their names is not cute. If being rude to believers gets you off tho. I sugest naming her Eve, Mary or Mohammed. More bang for your buck.

Well since I come from Denmark, where asa belief and Asatru has been part of our culture and history of over 1000 years, so it would appear that I know a bit more about it, in Denmark it is very normal that a child is baptized with a name from asa belief or Asatru, here's a list ( Amma, Ask, Balder, Brage, Dag, Edda, Elle, Embla, Fenja, Fenris, Frej, Freja, Frey, Freyja, Frigg, Gefion, Gerd, Heidrun, Heimdal, Hermod, Hlin, Hugin, Idun, Jarl, Karl, Loke, Magne, Magni, Menja, Modi, Nanna, Nat, Njord, Odin, Regin, Røskva, Sif, Sigmund, Sigurd, Sigyn, Sindre, Sol, Thor, Tjalfe, Tor, Trud, Trym, Tyr, Ull, Urd, Vile, Ydun, Ymer) with names approved in Denmark for children from asa belief or Asatru, and if you name your child with one of this names, you do not have to believe asa belief or Asatru and there is no one who sees it as nasty or disrespect, but it helps to preserve our culture and history, and if you use one of the names, then you know the story behind the name, and the kid will grow up with the story that he or she will learn on to their children

One thing you should know about asa belief and Asatru is that this religious community is very young compared to that asa belief and Asatru is over 1000 years old, in many years, there was no one who believed in asa belief and Asatru, as a religion, one of the things that've done that asa belief and Asatru has survived as a religion, and that people can believe in asa belief and Asatru today is precisely the honor we have shown by using names, and tell the story forward, and to give a slave a name from asa belief and Asatru is not disrespect, but to show honor and respect.

But I understand why you think it's nasty and disrespect, to use names from the asa belief and Asatru, because in the United States, White supremacist groups and Nazis, has taken and used asa belief and Asatru, in their delusionary about what asa belief and Asatru is and if one gets all information from White supremacist groups and Nazis about what asa belief and Asatru and is about, then one knows only ignorance and stupidity.

I can tell you that in Denmark, these american White supremacist groups and the Nazis considered as the black plague, and no one within asa belief and Asatru want anything to do with them, so a good advice is never listen to these White supremacist groups and Nazis when it comes asa belief and Asatru.

There are several reasons why I would choose a slave name from asa belief and Asatru, the first is the story behind the name that is strong and powerful.

The second is the time asa belief and Asatru were cultured by the Vikings, and the Vikings had slaves in their household

The third reason is the word slave. originating from "Slav" so called Because of the many Slavs sold into slavery by conquering peoples. and Slav are white people who were sold into slavery

So everything here is real, it is not something that is based over one man's science fiction novel.
The names are from real gods
asa belief and Asatru is a real belief
The Vikings had real slaves
Slavs were white European people sold as real slaves
And a Viking in a household, could not be any more Dominant

And If you wish to open your own Blótlaug which is a kind of household, you can simply do it and call yourself for ASA believers, your Blótlaug can become a member of a larger community which consists of many different Blótlaug which come together to larger rituals and celebrations, the other Blótlaug will probably not agree with your lifestyle, with slavery, but they will accept you as part of the ASA believers, but it is clear that you can not walk around with slaves in chains and punish them. to these big meetings, with many Blótlaug overall, but in your own Blótlaug where you are head of the household, you can do as you like, you can interpret ASA belief as you want, and you can live your life as you like,

I hope you learned a little about, our old culture.

Yes I was thinking we are both fans of the works of Tolkein, so maybe a name from there.. as I said, I have some ideas, I primarily wanted to hear others experiences of naming their slaves, so please, nobody fight!

No lack of Tolkien names here: http://www.glyphweb.com/arda/index_race.html

For the record. If I bought a dog horse or falcon it would not be weird to ask for name ideas on a forum. Hell. I've thought about "name my new falcon contests" in other forums.

Really? It sounds weird to me. We didn't need help naming the horse. We tried a few different things that spoke to us and picked the one that fit him best.

Beyond that, some people just don't take to slave names. Or honorifics for that matter. He tried one at the beginning hoping if he used a different name I would have less of an emotional trigger to some things that came up, that it would make it more role play and less real to me. Didn't work.

It seems a regular practice on the hunting and falconry forums I participate on. I've never done it but I and family always name critters without any difficulty. But I've offered sugestions.

But thinking about it, us naming the Slave is kinda weird. Yet us tossing ideas to him so he lands on the perfect name is pretty cool. (just my take.)

I kinda like the Tolken theme idea if that's a thing you both can relate to. Perhaps name her after a certain female Elf whom Strider adored? That would remind her she means quite a lot to you?

Prob be a good idea to not name her after a hobbit tho....

Not sure what that has to do with anything!

Really?!? You don't?

You decided to ask a bunch of strangers on the internet about something that is extremely personal, special and intimate.

Personally I think naming a "slave" is more than a little "out there". But the good news is I have a name for you and your slave. Your new and improved name would be "ClueLess" and her name should be "Why-am-i with-this-guy".

I realize that you prolly won't use these names. However those nicks seem to suit you to a T. I know when I was stumped to name my kids. The very FIRST thing I did was log on and ask a bunch of strangers.

Totally uncalled for. This is a purely abusive post. Why did you come here to "contribute". If you had no positive advice you could have just ignored this. Ashamed for you.

Gee thanks I think. I'm not some pollyanna who just agrees with whatever. If I think the post is moronic i call it that way.

How are ppl going to learn unless they hear opposite viewpoints? I thought I did a bang up job in my post. I gave him a couple of nicks to try on for size.

You really need to get over yourself. BTW I'm really glad your ashamed for me.

Dude, SailingBum DID post on topic. He gave you advice on how to go about naming your slave. But you decided to not read it for what it is and instead just for what you felt. Try to look at it objectively and not emotionally.

So because the OP does his thing different than you it's cool to trash him? You are some sort of authority on BDSM and if someone does it different they are wrong. Very glad you told me because judging from your posts I'd have guessed your more of a keyboard warrior than a real authority. We are all so very lucky to have you with us to impart your great wisdom.

I am not the OP. bashing the OP for coming here and including us in a very personal decision might be on topic. But it's for sure rude and uncool.

How would you take it if the OP went and attacked your choices. Such as your choice of being a little? Doesn't he deserve the same respect?

SailingBum is direct that way to everyone. Do I think that's how normal people behave? No. What would you have me do? Ban him? This is the internet. I think a part of riding the ride is understanding that not everyone is going to conform to whatever your particular standards of civility and courtesy are.

I get your position. Not asking for him to be banned. But I figure if he can express his negative opinion of the OP than I get to do the same in regard to his posts "on topic" about the OP. Right?

She's not a little.

And comparing someone's relationship choices to the choice to post something personal and intimate on the internet looking for answers from complete strangers is not even close to being the same thing.

We're not bashing his decision to re-name his slave (which is a relationship choice), we're pointing out that some things shouldn't be placed in front of a bunch of strangers.

It's about the equivalent of asking a bunch of internet strangers to pick out your wedding ring.

I was under the impression the OP was asking us how we named our Slaves. And he was looking for inspiration. Never got an impression the forum would be choosing her name. Where did you get that idea?

SwitchNSpanky -> RE: Advice on naming a slave (7/20/2013 10:16:10 AM)

Is it wrong to ask for inspiration? Is it wrong to ask what others have done before you? Isn't that what a forum is for?
