I'm being serious here. I'm not one of those "bleeding heart liberals" and there's plenty of cases in which I'm willing to just "put the rabid dog down". But I'm unwilling to kill a man without giving him a reasonably strong defense team.

If they find the videos, luckily even the "Dream Team (OJ's lawyers, for those who've forgotten)" couldn't do much for them.

ETA: It's more costly to try to execute that to throw 'em in the pokey and throw away the key.

The Supreme only allows the death penalty for murder.

They do say that child rapists don't fare very well in prison. I think some places put them in solitary to keep them from getting killed by their fellow inmates. So they'll probably get what's coming to them.

Great arguments by liberals - we're going to keep making appeal after appeal.
Then, when the cost of those appeals mounts - we're going to say - see the cost is too high. We should do away with the death penalty.

What we really should is reduce the cost of legal representation, have government funding for x number of appeals, no more. I don't mind the defendent getting legal help on a couple of appeals - but 30 is ridiculous.

And finally, if the appeal fails, or is frivolous, court costs should be assessed to the lawyer.

kinda sounds like the republicans trying 40 times to vote against Obama care, to shut the government down, if they dont defund obamacare and the amount of abortion bills being passed then turned around by supremes because they are un constitutional.
all the while whinging about small government

Oh and Im pro death penalty for quite a few levels of scum.
