ResidentSadist -> -=Porn, guns, Rx, ammo, money, sex and drugs=- (8/24/2013 9:08:14 PM)

So I read about the porn guy that got aides and the porn industry put a moratorium on production. I was thinking about how the propaganda on that one will spin out of control when I read about some sound bite seeking LA politician that said, "Exposing workers to this type of harm would not be accepted in any other industry in this nation". I won't go into freedom of choice and how that's OK to choose risk if you jion the military and work like a slave for crap wages but go fuck for money and get paid well for doing it and now that is unreasonable risk . . . no, I won't get on a soapbox comparing the risk of carrying a rifle in enemy territory for 3 or 4 grand a month verses sticking you dick in someone for 3 or 4 grand a week.

However, it did occur to me that the fear mongers and propaganda have been changing. So I made list and came to an odd conclusion:

1- War on drugs didn't stop 1% of the illegal drugs. But it did lower the quality of life by making access to good legal drugs for pain or even allergy pills next to impossible for some people. I can buy dope more easily and cheaper than I can get a legal prescription for percodan.

2- Bush stole most of the money and gave it to his friends as a last fuck you gesture on the way out the white house.

3- Obamacare is chaos. It is reducing access for some, helping others a little, but it didn't raise the bar for median . . . the unseen repercussions are randomly fucking various middle class and down.

4- The quackery witch hunt ended alt medicine in many states and reduced availability in others. Example, no more naturopathy licenses will ever be issued in Florida. When the NAs die off, end of that type of medicine.

5- The anti-violence fear campaign against guns instead of the violent people wielding them almost got a foothold in the latest reincarnation of the campaign. It came so close, the backlash like ammo hording and accompanying activities have migrated the use of the term "prepping" from something reserved to describe the actions and mental illnesses of the paranoid, to an urban household standard with dozens of reality TV shows supporting it.

6- Like guns, the recycling campaign to take away bareback porn in near future may be fueled by OSHA under the guise of "worker safety", claiming equality for all industry risks because some porn dude who got aids?

So they they got the good legal drugs
They got most of the money
They're gonna' try for the porn

I guess we will just have to all stay home with our horded guns and ammo, broke, getting stoned on cheap illegal drugs and fucking each other for entertainment!

Who says the 70s are dead?

The 70’s was a walk in Paradise compared to today.

It was the tail end of the “Free Love” era. Aids hadn’t reared its ugly head yet. There was still more than enough good music around even though Disco did start tainting things in the later 70’s. Muscle cars were still the thing to own. Gas prices were still somewhat reasonable. A three finger bag of pot was only $10. And I was still years away from the “middle age spread”.

Valid point for sure... but the Zompocalypse is a 70s topic. In the 70s I had a fruit cellar with a 3 year supply of vacuum/nitrogen packed freeze dried foods. I had 52 rifles and 32 handguns . . . including a host of illegal class 3 weaponry and over 10,000 rounds of ammo. I had ABC gas masks and cartridge recharges. We (our little survival collective) had buried CB radios, repeaters, drums of gas and ultralights. We were even hooked up with the Jehovah's Witnesses' ham radio/repeater network. We exchanged logs of frequencies and codes because they seemed as sure they would be around in the end as we were. Even if we didn't pray to same gods, we had the same equipment to makes things work if the infrastructure collapsed. And it wasn't just that we were prepared for the the post nuclear zombies, it was also for the impending Russian invasion and when aliens attack. The 70s were rocking almost as hard as the 50s. I think the 50s were bigger on bomb shelters though.

Remember what Bert the turtle from the 50s always says:

Does that mean I'll be thin and muscular, have all my hair and get laid every weekend again?[8D]

Darkfeather -> RE: -=Porn, guns, Rx, ammo, money, sex and drugs=- (8/25/2013 10:37:27 AM)

Ah the cold war 50s, when they made those radiation proof desks. What they need to do is start making all buildings and cars, houses, etc, out of the same material as both those desks and airplane black boxes. Combine that, and hell, we won't need guns, we'd be invincible

TNDommeK -> RE: -=Porn, guns, Rx, ammo, money, sex and drugs=- (8/25/2013 10:58:45 AM)

I anyone else getting turned on with all this gas mask talk...or is it just me?

MasterCaneman -> RE: -=Porn, guns, Rx, ammo, money, sex and drugs=- (8/25/2013 12:12:58 PM)

I hated gas masks in the Army. Took them dumb SOBS nearly five years to get me the correct eyelens inserts for my M18A1. I've got a couple Israeli units, need to score some fresh filters for 'em. Ohhhh...wait....you mean for the "other" reason....[;)]

Oh, and RS? The title alone should ensure this should become an epic thread.

TNDommeK -> RE: -=Porn, guns, Rx, ammo, money, sex and drugs=- (8/25/2013 1:52:51 PM)

Ism I just enjoy masks and weird shit, lol. Not shit as in literal shit, but you get it.

Well, if you were into shit literally, a gas mask might help.

Just saying

But only the weird shit. Ones that are shaped like the Virgin Mary or Jesus or Elvis, or even ones that are neon colors, really do distract you from the smell. Not that I'm into all sorts of weird shit or anything... [;)]

Why does the Warren Zevon song start playing in my head when I see the title of this thread on the scroller..."Send lawyers, guns and money...".....[sm=dancer.gif]

I watch Doctor Who and seeing anyone in a gas mask going "Are you my mummy?" is a bit terrifying.

ResidentSadist -> RE: -=Porn, guns, Rx, ammo, money, sex and drugs=- (8/30/2013 9:47:14 AM)

Are you my mummy?

Forget the decrepit military gas masks.

The MSA Ultraview is much more comfortable and you can buy cartridges readily. The only thing it doesn't have is the feeding port and the ability to put only one cartridge on one side for firing your rifle.

Just saying... I don't spend six or more hours a day in a mask any more but I've worn just about every one manufactured at one time or other.

I find it interesting, in historical context, that the huge "drug problem" in the U.S. started just as they were going to lay off all the extra law enforcement personnel they had hired to enforce liquor prohibition.

70s.... opened with folk music and went out with disco balls. Disco... no one listened to that crap but it was a good excuse to get physical on the dance floor.
