dcnovice -> Jesus Christ Files Lawsuit Against GOP For Slander (8/25/2013 1:21:47 PM)

A funny bit of P&R satire:

quote:

Jesus Christ filed a lawsuit today in the New York Supreme Court against the Republican National Committee for what he is calling “egregious misrepresentation of his statements and image.”

One of the attorneys representing Christ had this to say:

“For years Republicans have proclaimed their love for and loyalty to Jesus, yet their actions are highly contradictory to what Mr. Christ preached. Instead of helping the poor and the sick GOP instead punishes the poor and the sickly.

Our client isn’t telling the GOP what their agenda should be, he simply wants them to stop using his name when their actions contradict everything he stood for.

Does "Mr. Christ" have a chance of winning?

I'm wondering how theses attorneys managed to get Mr Christ to sign the papers authorising them to act on his behalf ......

I wondering if there was a miracle involved at some point along the line .......[:D]

He's the Messiah: miracles are what he does.

My guess is that it'll be found that He doesn't have standing to bring suit. [:D]

How does one go directly to a State Supreme Court, anyway?

Fast track or immaculate judgement. I expect YHWY is a hella lawyer. Writ of habeas corpus more than likely, what with that empty tomb thing.

NY is different in its designation. That court is its equivalent to most states Superior court.

(Haven't you ever watched Law and Order?)

I think the Republicans are using the name of Jesus H. Christ, so they might be able to get off on a technicality.

No, actually, I haven't.

Well, first he'd had to prove misrepresentation, and then he'd have to provide evidence of material damage or pain and suffering as a result of the alleged misrepresentation.

He'd also have to prove that he really was the messiah. When he tried that 2000 years ago, he never even admitted it, let alone would prove it in a court. What's the purpose of the suit? Cease and desist? I think he'd do better trying to find a criminal angle rather than a litiginous one. The latter makes him look like he's after money.. that's hardly christ-like.

If Mr Christ is omnipotent, as His followers constantly tell us He is, then the outcome of the proceedings should be a foregone conclusion. Who would arrange things to find against themselves in a court case? Or to award damages and costs against themselves? These would be acts of sheer lunacy.........

Mind you, if the Bible is to be believed, Mr C has a history of judgements against him ........! So omnipotent perhaps but definitely not a legal eagle! [;)]
