I've noticed this pop up a few times.

Usually these are from women who are about 25 or less.

Anyone wants to hazard a guess that they really can afford an attorney to fight their case if anyone uses their images? I mean it's rather futile, especially if a non-US entity uses their images.

For example, what happens if someone from China decides to scrape all the images on the site and uses them for marketing purposes within the asian/sub continent?

Yeah, I thought so. Good luck to those girls getting any type of relief! [:D]

There are pictures of porn stars on the Internet. I cannot believe that someone would appropriate one of my pics when they can get a pic of a porn star instead.

They are not a complete waste of time when it comes to wannabees thinking to raid the net for blog-beeatch material which they intend to use for "articles". In one non-usa country, a complete asswank joined a 'community' at it's outset, became a mod, rose above that station, purporting to be a photographer, all of this was on a Creative Crap Commons con-artist premise (unless you took pains to state under a legal agreement that you wanted the 'agreed use only" Creative Commons bullshit applied to anything you posted (including films, animations, short scripts, paintings, audio art, etc.).

and it was ALL so he could fulfill a PhD in "going under cover and self-embedding in modern journalism". Which he ADMITTED on national tax payer funded radio.

The asswank had the audacity to present himself as a photography Major when his user pic was something using the 2007 macbook photobooth app which a low-functioning primate, bribed with plushtoys and mangos, could have achieved.

It serves a minor purpose. In the event that someone uses the profile in academic research AND if someone checks their data, AND if you have the warning up, they MIGHT ask them for your release to use the profile in their research, and then when they don't have it they MIGHT invalidate their study.

It serves a useful purpose. It warns the reader that the profile belongs to a complete fucking moron so you shouldn't bother talking to them.
