Like most things electrical - there are usually 2 models, 240V 50Hz and 110V 60Hz.
Either that, or like electric razors and computers, they have a 240/110 switch.

Most of the operating parts inside are identical except for the power converter that drive the innards.

well I understand that:) but with the UK current being so much more powerful, Im wondering IF there is a difference for just the attachments being used on a 110v. without a converter, /switch

Freely admitting i don't know much about violet wands, I do have some experience with electronics. Attachments should be universal for that model regardless of the voltage, anything else would be crazy.
And a little electronics 101... In my native language there are sometimes some confusion regarding terminology. Current is Amperage and use Ampere as the unit. Tension, Potential or Voltage use Volts as the unit. Usually is is said that it's the amperage that kills.
The U.S. electrical grid uses 110V/60Hz while the Europeans use 230V/50Hz. A transformer will only transform the voltage, not the frequency. Usually it's only the transformer that differs between 110V/230V models, sometimes it's even the same transformer only wired differently.

P.S. Changing the wiring in an old one should be pretty straight forward if it's just changing the wiring. Changing components might be trickier, capacitors age badly sometimes. Might be quite time consuming though.

I checked out the page, and ahem found my answer, apparently the bases of the attachments are a different size as well, so IM going to email them.
Thank you for the electronics info:)

For a long, long time, I have always wanted to experience the violet wand. The colour it gives off is amazing and always looks pretty cool when seeing it used etc.

But some time ago I experience the violet wand and was quite disapointed as could barely feel it if at all.

Guess some things do vary from one person to another and I just im one in a small minority that doesnt get much from it.

But do love watching it done and seeing the pretty violet

Hi - Lucylastic

The attachments (electrodes) work with any violet wand with any starting voltage. However, American end cap sizes are different to the European ones. Not much so but it is not advised that you have some of each. American end caps on the electrodes are 11.15mm, ours are 11.00mm and would be loose if you are mixing the two.

Hi ivone57

Alas I can do nothing about the smell, but thats part of the pleasure as its something different. Anyway, if you are being zapped to hell and back (or paradise) then that will be the least of your worries.

Hi SunTzuSwe

Its an easy job to restore, as long as you have years of experience - and you always end up replacing components and have 1001 spare bits for those that drop off.

Hi MzSiderosminion

I suspect you have been subjected to one of those cosmetic devices re branded as fetish/bdsm. They are not really violet wands at all and only consume 4 - 12 watts of power

The classic and vintage medical ones we restore consume 20 - 45 watts of power and feel very different as well. You can view ours at http://nickandmorphia.com/violetwands.asp

Enjoy.

I'm familiar with restoring vintage amplifiers so I'm totally getting what your saying NickandMorphia. :)
The pile of spare parts usually grow at an alarming rate once you get serious about it. And hunting for vintage replacement parts can be a hassle. I would myself rather buy a restored unit or a new one than restoring an old one myself. I like building new stuff and think you're providing a great service, making all our lives much easier. :)
Anyhow, the only reason I don't own one is because of the price tag. I haven't been able to swing that sort of cash so far but would love to get one in the future.

I have had both experiences with the violet wand. My first time I loved it. It tickled, it hurt. I did wind up with a small burn as I had convinced myself if i kept my clothes on i wasn't playing (i wasn't supposed to play on a first date). I also itched like hell for a few days after. Wasn't bad in the areas i could put lotion on. But i couldn't reach all areas of my back. It was so worth it though.

My next experience i got nothing from it. I had told them about my first experience and they used it on a lower setting to avoid the itching. BORING! But then again i am a masochist.

Hi - SunTzuSwe

They are nice, thanks for that. Expensive alas as there is so much work involved in restoring an item from scratch - the case, the interior and actually the electrics are the easiest part.

Hi samdarella

Sounds like you had a very intense first session and then a much milder second session. I would say in normal (intense) sadistic use, any marks or reddening of the skin should disappear after a couple of hours, but then all people react differently. In milder use, there should be few or no marks at all.

I was at a club and they were doing a demonstration. I stepped to try it out and it was awesome. I think it was one of the older type one, I'm not sure.

I did get a minor burn, it left a bit of a scar. It turns out the stripes on my shirt, that I thought were just sparkly thread, was metal so, yeah. Ouch.

I wouldn't trust the old ones. The wiring is usually very bad and can cause the tips to explode, for the machine to overheat or even cause a fire. The wires are usually short-circuited and poorly wired.

So unless you are an expert on rewiring, I would stick with the new ones.

We prefer the old ones. We got ours through the wonderful Nick and Morphia some years ago and have loved it ever since.

Hi chococupcake

Yes if you are going to have fine metal thread in your clothing, then the violet wand output will zap this first and then it will arc from the metal directly to your skin. It will be at a particular point and a very fine one, thus the marks

Hi orgasmdenial12

Thanks for the compliment. Yes you quoted from Littlewonder. Before you use any ancient device, it should be checked out first and then fully restored, as we do to ours.

Hi tdavis1210

Just ask me a few questions before you buy one

We've found the violet wand a great ice breaker when we attend a party with a lot of newbies. Once they see one person give it a try, everyone wants to know how it feels.
