i am an american and im not a racist... i cant be otherwise i would not love my children cause they are mixed.... all races in america are american so it should be worded differently imho

Do you think that smurfs - or anyone with another skin color than your own - by definition are either inferior or superior to you?

Have you read the opening post?

I think you're putting too much faith in your poll.

I think that the poll yields fascinating results, which evoke more questions.

About a quarter of the respondents are non-USA Americans.

He's got more sense.

Not American here - and don't like men of a certain ethnicity. Love the women, but don't like the men. I don't consider myself superior or inferior to them ................ so, does this make me racist, or just sexist within that ethnicity?
And this isn't an ethnicity prevalent in the US.
Actually, given the ethnicity, it probably makes me smart, judging by the news lately.[:'(]

TNDommeK -> RE: Are you a racist? (9/11/2013 4:39:32 AM)

I think that just makes you want what you want. I think if you didn't like them bc of color AND thought your race was better, then perhaps. But as far as being attracted to or not attracted to...naaaah, you're not racist.

Uh, you realize, don't you, that there are NO conclusions, ZERO, that can be drawn from who chooses to answer the poll. So you are asking a question that is not very accurate, won't respond to posters who raise legitimate questions and issues about the topic and then are trying to draw conclusions based on who answers the poll as opposed to the answers you receive. This seems really pointless to me.

Quite. That is why I have drawn no conclusions and have said that the response to the poll evokes more questions. It is interesting.

What is not accurate about the poll?

I am not aware of not responding to issues concerning the poll. I am aware that some people made remarks that are extraneous to the poll. I suggest that they open their own thread about such extraneous issues.

As I have said previously: I have drawn no conclusions.

It is good that you have an opinion.

Ok, back to your topic

I wonder if its not so much the ethnicity but the social/culture of the particular male ethnics & how they were raised, how they view women, how they treat others, etc?..

tj444 -> RE: Are you a racist? (9/11/2013 9:28:15 AM)

Everyone is racist, ageist, sexist.. no matter how much they deny it or even try to fight it in themselves when they recognize it.. at some point everyone has run into someone that ticked them off enough for them to think "dam ___s".. even if they don't generally brush all of that race, sex, age with the problem.. jmo..

and that "brush" also extends to habits or lifestyle also.. such as smokers having certain habits (like smoking at the bus stop even if there are other people around [>:] ).. or cyclists (that ride like race car drivers, speeding, not obeying the traffic laws, etc)..

Including whether nationality, gender, racism, or any other characteristic makes a person any more likely to post off topic comments.

Quite.

You are one of those who brightly shine above the grey masses.

The poll supplies all kinds of interesting information. For example: with ten respondents so far, sixty per cent of respondents is female.

*nod* I figured you might be looking "between the lines". I do that often also.

hylasEA -> RE: Are you a racist? (9/12/2013 12:23:03 PM)

ok i voted, but as others have mentioned already, i dont think those options are all that insightful. racism is not a yes/no question. i would not say that im a racist and i certainly dont think that certain ethnicities are superior or inferior to others, but i still have lots of racism in me, that i just basically soaked up and internalized from my enviroment and from the media.

just as an example, i grew up as a person of colour in an overwhelmingly caucasian enviroment. i was made fun of for much of my childhood for my facial features. that kind of experience leaves scars, and they cant be just erased or tossed out easily.

i dont trust anybody who says about themselves that they are not racist in any way, and thats all there is to say about it. that just means they are rather naive about the subject.

Rule -> RE: Are you a racist? (9/12/2013 1:12:15 PM)

I am sorry that you have been hurt. I hope that you can heal yourself. It will help your healing if you forgive those who hurt you - just in your own mind.
