The summer has past and our Tarot thread went stale as we were distracted by many things going on. Tarot reflects life, so we should not have regret that we were out there doing life instead of talking here about Tarot. I see this topic takes seasons.
On my FetLife profile I started a discussion in a local group on The Devil and a D/s relationship. I realized that many cards tweak and torque in meaning when held in reflection of a D/s arrangement. The Devil seemed the most obvious. These words were said

I meditate on my Tarot every day. I figured I might share from time to time the paths of thought this takes me. This is shared with the desire to have my community here look at the Art and Craft with deeper examination.
I was looking at the Tarot trump The Devil today.
On the front of his throne, the beast has two people enslaved, chained and collared. The Tarot is stuffed with metaphor - and as we know, metaphor of a way to model a complex world. All models at some point fail, have edges and exceptions where they fail to describe the actual world intended.
WOW this picture looks like some of us at Folsom... Me on the throne, holding my boys on chain, held in check merely by the promise for a wild time coming and the staying for the next wild time and serving Sir.
Does that make me the Beast? I am loving and kind. I give and work hard for my boys. But I have severe moments - many that are play-acted for the effect. I even say to people "I am not the Lord of Darkness but I will portray him for you."
Often depicted as trapped by their material desires, rarely are they actually ever considered slaves. In the world of magical study and practice, one must find ways to harness and perfect the use of will - but a slave bends will to his master. I am not a slave, and would not be for this reason.
But I don't know everything. I got people here to ask - would being a slave and serving your sir/ma'am properly make your magic suffer?
Where does magic and enslaving kink mesh in your rules? Are there limits we should consider universal?
