I'm just curious what the best ways to hold position while getting spanked are. And I thought a switch would be the best role to ask to get tips from both sides. I'm also wondering if there are any secrets to producing those beautiful marks as shown in so many pictures across the net. i'm not talking about the simple red butt, i'm talking about the pretty bruises, blisters and welts. thanks for your help,

Dear kinkybard, Ladies and Gentlemen;

The best spanking position to hold would most likely be "German" which the slave grabs their ankles while standing to be spanked or caned. By doing such, it tightens the skin around the buttocks and offers more surface.

The over the knee position, to which makes the buttocks the actual peak is also good, again as it exposes the peak of the buttocks cheeks.

As far as bruises go, the passive hand would not work but a closed hand to which mirrors the effect of a paddle. However, if you are strictly hand spanking, some 'hands' will produce the hot red bottom.

If you are unable to over the knee or grab ankles, planting hands to a steady chair and become like a table (English position), level your back and adjust your back and body to a level like position, offers the dominant a fine way to spank, paddle and or cane.

I would have to disagree with the idea of holding the ankles while standing. It makes for a beautiful target, yes, but it's an extremely difficult position to maintain - particularly when the one doing the spanking is really getting into it and swinging hard - because the center of gravity is off.

However, I do agree that bent over is preferable to vertical or horizontal, simply because it does present the buttocks in not only a pleasing manner, but one which is guaranteed to make each blow provide maximum effect. When vertical, the skin is less taut, and the sensation is much less pronounced.

As far as lovely bruising and welts and such... well... each person is going to be different in that respect. I've found that canes will leave the nicest welts with the least amount of effort. Anything that compresses the flesh, such as paddles and hands, will leave the best bruises. In fact, the most painful, longest-lasting marks I've ever received came from a bare-handed spanking. But like I said, each person is going to be different, and some people simply do not bruise easily.

I love being on all fours in front of him and letting him spank me while he watches tv and relaxes on the couch. This is good for me b/c he tends to not hit as hard in this position and it helps to warm me up for more serious play later...so that I can take more pain from him (as I am not maso at all and he is a sadist).

His hand usually doesn't bruise me, but our leather paddle leaves lovely bruises. And both the crop and cane tend to welt me and leave lovely marks for long periods of time.

I would have to say in support of the position in German, bent and grasping ankles is worthless due to the difficulty in the position to maintain. The dominant is usually there to support the slave in the position in spanking with different intensities. Caning the dominant has to step back away, so then German would be unsupported.

A saw-horse could be padded and used as support for German, as well as a bike rack. Even swing set can be use by double end clip raising the chain to the seat of the swing as to support the hip/stomach area. So German can be used and supported in many ways to be spanked.

Personally, I prefer to be on a good spanking bench. However, Sir insists when I am getting punished that I have to stay in place and not move. In those instances, I prefer to be bent over a chair or the bed, for balance. I can't stand in place holding my ankles.

As to pretty patterns, a crop seems to work best on my rear.

Knees & elbows on a bed offers a comfortable position & an excellent "target". A wide leather strap leaves some nice lines, makes a lovely noise & gets the message across.

I admire any and all that can do it... personally, Ive never had a spanking, of any kind....but Im told I do need it, and with alot of rope and a good gag, it is possible!

I personally prefer a verticle position as in suspended on tip toe.
I have no problem achieving desired results which is the shape of my
hand in pink to red in color.

I also have a crop that has a hand shaped end on it. Again pink to red in color
is the desired result. I particularly don't like the looks of welts and brusises on
the butt but I love the sight of a blk & blu bite mark upon the shoulders.

Personally, I prefer them to be on all fours on the ground with a nice clear area around them for maximum versatility. The most painful thing I have ever used and had used for me was rigid fibreglass cabling...

hhhmmmm any position is good as long as it's a male hand administering the spanking to my behind... the hand cupping and smacking the curvature of the buttocks stinging and carressing both. the touch at point of contact is such a lovely feeling... it permeates the surface and travels deep to cup & flick one's deep needs... oh to have that feeling right now... *groan... *

I have found that after a sound otk, I like putting my subs on the bed, on their knees, face to the mattress, legs spread wide. It provides a perfect target. I can use my hand or anything else. It allows for easy balance. And... gives me access to all those other wonderful parts of them.

My favorite positions are with him bent over a chair, or laying with his chest against a high table with his wrists restrained, or down on all fours, with his forehead on the floor. It gives great access to the cheeks and I can also cane or flog him in these positions without worrying about him moving.

And I have to agree with MrrPete, there's just something about black and blue marks on the shoulders. GRRR yummy!! Yes I have a biting fetish going on.

I have a preference for over the knee. I can get enough of a swing in that after a while I get the nice red glow and it just makes me want to keep spanking her. Oh and Lashra, be careful about biting large muscle groups. It can take over a month to heal the bruise.

For marks, I have found that a rubber paddle, or my rubber slapper do the best job at producing bruises (but they hurt like a bitch [which makes me love them all the more], and I would say, of everything I have been hit with, hurt the most). My slapper is the first thing that has put bruises on my back. I could swear up until that momment, I was beginning to think it was reinforced with kevlar :P The cane, or stick does leave nice welts on me, however, when using it on a friend, I guess either the way I was using it, or the width of the stick, or simply is how his body reacts, it produced a bruise that I had never seen outside severe S&M photos. I was quite proud of that actually, but a bit concerned with how bad it looked the next day, so I called him later on in the week to make sure it was starting to heal, and not producing a hematoma.

Im not so good at beeing still for a spanking so Im usualy put in positions were I can be manualy held down LOL so usualy over a lap which is my favorate and the easiest for me to stay in... a good one if you want bruises would be the posistion were you lie on your back on the bed legs in the air this can be hard to hold so you may beed to be aided by eather the Dom holding you or by beeing tied. However it pulls the skin very tight and it exposes everything and i do mean everything so it is best to have very good aim in this position. I happen to think spankings are more painfull in that position as well (oh and I so hate that position)

I'm still in the beginning stages of spanking, we've done basically just open hand otk. No lasting marks or anything. I'm not sure I'd want to have any lasting bruises, as he and I both like the alabaster skin of said area.

We've yet to try any tools for spanking, though I would like to start with the paddle brush that I have. Any pointers?

As for position, I would love to do otk....but actually be laying across his knees. Though we have some work to do before we get there. He's a thin guy so there's not much lap to lay across lol. And I'm a pretty curvaceous girl so I want (and for other reasons as well) to lose a bit of weight before trying the true otk again.

a good ole fashioned belt and the german postition work well! the belt leaves both bruises and welts on my ass... sweet... pain!
