Tonight a spider crawled from behind the wall and it was black with pointy legs not shiny though. Minutes later a small pimple like spot appeared on me. I've come to the conclusion its a spider bite. Since I only believe in legal alternative medicine with no western medicine involved. (Yes I have health insurance, but refuse my GP. They have since died and I won't get a new one.) I decided to apply a black salve with 20% ichthammol so I will let you all know how that went. Wish me luck!

First, I've never heard of a spider that bit unless it thought it was in self defense. So I'm not sure it was a bite.

Assuming it was, what kind of spider was it?

Was it a necrotic type or a neurotoxin type?

I was sleeping originally woke up and saw it. Just a black one with pointy legs is all I know. No necrosis, I applied the salve and feel fine, its definitely drawing whatever is in the bite out. I know its a bite with how quickly it appeared.

I woke up this morning and the spot has gone down and feels much better. I prefer treating myself to going to any doctor.

I am glad your treatment worked for your spider bite.

I garden and get bitten/scratched all the time, most of which does not require much treatment. I'm damn earthy crunchy - in fact, I was living in a tent on an ashram when I got bitten by a brown recluse spider. Conventional medicine, in the form of IV antibiotics, may have saved my life. While I had started on pills the previous day, I was feverish and red lines of infection were marching up my leg. I couldn't see the wound, as it was on the back of my knee, but it was getting bigger.

Around 49% of brown recluse bites do not result in necrosis or systemic effects. When both types of loxoscelism do result, systemic effects may occur before necrosis, as the venom spreads throughout the body in minutes. Children, the elderly, and the debilitatingly ill may be more susceptible to systemic loxoscelism. The systemic symptoms most commonly experienced include nausea, vomiting, fever, rashes, and muscle and joint pain. Rarely, such bites can result in hemolysis, thrombocytopenia, disseminated intravascular coagulation, organ damage, and even death.[18] Most fatalities are in children under the age of seven[19] or those with a weak immune system.

While the majority of brown recluse spider bites do not result in any symptoms, cutaneous symptoms occur more frequently than systemic symptoms. In such instances, the bite forms a necrotizing ulcer that destroys soft tissue and may take months to heal, leaving deep scars. These bites usually become painful and itchy within 2 to 8 hours. Pain and other local effects worsen 12 to 36 hours after the bite, and the necrosis develops over the next few days.[20] Over time, the wound may grow to as large as 25 cm (10 inches). The damaged tissue becomes gangrenous and eventually sloughs away.
