DsBound -> A better use of 500k... (10/11/2013 3:25:53 PM)

I understand wanting to give a highlight reel for the new healthcare system, but really? I can think of many other ways that amount could help the poor.
500k give a way

The things the echo chamber freaks out over....

Let me know when the President wastes a trillion dollars and thousands of lives on nothing.

How about a president who takes out 500 billion from Medicare to kick start obamacare... this same guy is doing this on top of all the wars and restricts a major domestic energy soucre.

So all that Bush did (which sucked), then add more wars, no budget oh yeah and top it off with ACA.

Its cute hearing a dem talk about echo chambers... ;) Echo, echo.

How about those four trillion dollars we blew on invading Iraq? Or the hundreds of billions we gave to the richest 1% for a decade in tax cuts? Or the creation, maintaining, and final destruction of DOMA? I love it when 'fiscal' conservatives bitch about wasted money. They got after some of the most petty things from Democrats but always overlook the medium to large size projects from the very Republican/Tea Party members they elect to government. Yeap, yelling at the Democrats for the little and irrelevant stuff while writing those blank checks for the GOPTP to cash. And all those conservatives wonder why this nation has the financial problems it has.....

FR

Maybe I'm naive and don't get the whole obamian agenda... but if there is new law that will change all the cistizens' relationship with health care shouldn't they know how it works?

Lucylastic -> RE: A better use of 500k... (10/12/2013 4:03:34 AM)

No Eulero not at all, if they know how it works, they can give a decent argument, debate, reason why they deserve having it in their lives, and not be beholden to the benefactors of health care now, like insurance companies who only have their "best interests at heart"

Paying for it to be an enjoyable thing in tv show plots is the best use of that money? Just seems like a waste. I suppose most sheeple are glued to the boob tube, but if thats justified as educating the populace, we're in a sad state of affairs.

Kill your television... a mind is a terrible thing to.waste.

Unintended irony at its best.

Sorry I just read the article I based based my comment only to your sentence in the first post and it was not related my bad, I thought you were complaining about the governament spending money in tv commercials and not complaining that a political association spends money for political reasons, one thing I don't understand is why do hollywood writers need such an expensive help to place messages in the plots, aren't they supposed to be able to do it by their own?

If you watch what comes out of Hollywood, very little of it is actually new stuff. Usually, it's just a new wrinkle on a well worn tale.

"Real Steel" was just a mixture of "Rocky" and a game for kids, Rockem Sockem Robots.

"Pacific Rim" was more like an adult version of "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers."

Why think TV writers would be more creative?

mnottertail -> RE: A better use of 500k... (10/12/2013 7:21:34 AM)

Yeah, Breitbart. . .so, no.

I don't know any of those movies, if they are new they aren't probably been translated in italian yet.

edit: no, it's me that was not interested in this kind of movies so I didn't noticed them.

DsBound -> RE: A better use of 500k... (10/12/2013 12:33:18 PM)

It just seems if the goal is to create better awareness... start with poorer local communities and a more hands on approach.

If the ACA is so great, it will be proven based on feedback, etc... Hollywood will endorse it naturally.

graceadieu -> RE: A better use of 500k... (10/12/2013 10:39:41 PM)

It's advertising. Product placement is a pretty common kind of marketing for big businesses. If they don't bother with marketing, how are people supposed to know about what benefits they can get from the ACA and how to sign up for them?

Also, I see ads on TV practically every day for the National Guard and the VA. How is this a waste of money when that isn't?

They're doing that, too. When you do marketing, it's good to take a multi-faceted approach and try more than one thing at a time.

For Head Start and WIC, 100% has been cut off since Oct 1.
