SHARING IS CARING, SECRETS ARE LIES, PRIVACY IS THEFT.

Last week, Facebook, which has, in shades of Orwell, a chief privacy officer removed a privacy setting so that any Facebook user can search for any other Facebook user.

The next day, Google unveiled a plan that would make it possible for the company to use its customers’ words and likeness in ads for products they like, information that Google knows because, well, Google knows everything.

“We’re at the dawn of the Second Enlightenment,” says one of The Circle’s founders in a speech to the staff. “I’m talking about an era where we don’t allow the majority of human thought and action and achievement and learning to escape as if from a leaky bucket.”

[It] believes if it can eliminate secrecy people will be forced to be their best selves all the time. (shades of behavioral control)

“If you have something that you don’t want anyone to know,” Eric Schmidt, the former chief executive of Google, once said, “maybe you shouldn't be doing it in the first place.”

There you are kinkroids the Circle is coming to...encircle you. Unless of course, you've got...something to hide.

Sound familiar ? To us young/old...it does. HERE

Anybody stupid enough to expect privacy from a social networking site deserves everything they get, to be honest.
As for using customers' words, maybe they should have had a look at the intellectual property clauses in the TOS before clicking the agree button.

So just that you remember that acts you wish to remain private are acts you probably...shouldn't be doing. Soon there will be software offered for a price, to protect you from the Circle. The conditioning is working.

Just wait until it becomes too costly for the great capitalist peasants.

Zuckywuckyberg, during an interview over 3 years ago, was asked his opinion on privacy infringement.

He looked like some dipshit snow-boarder had been mixed with Sheldon from Big Bang Theory in a matter-transporter accident for a moment before he answered,

"Define what you mean by 'privacy'."

So that about says it all.

The thing is, though, Google and Facebook aren't the only games in town. There are/were plenty of social networking sites and search engines out there, but those two seem to have caught on as the most popular. I started out using Yahoo, Alta Vista, and Dogpile back in the 90s. I don't remember exactly when Google came out, but they just seemed to be able to produce more relevant search results than some of the other search engines I've used.

As for Facebook, I think they're just beneficiaries of media hype, supplying confirmation about P.T. Barnum's observation that there's a sucker born every minute. Countless sites now have Facebook icons (along with Twitter), and I hear Facebook mentioned quite a bit on radio and TV. And people just flock to it like mindless sheep.

If you masturbate while attached to a heart monitor there will be a circle of frenzied activity by the nurses.
