never played in public... at home I expect a damn sharp pair of scissors, or sharp knife to be on hand to undo any bits of rope in an emergency.

I'd rather a slight cut to my arm than being dead, because a dingbat thought blunt scissors were safer.

Oh and if you cant calm your sub enough to release bondage, you aint Dom.

Blunt point scissors cut rope as well or better than a knife. They avoid the possibility of stabbing your subject to death in an attempt to quickly release her for whatever reason, choking, fire, seizure, so I guess I "ain't a Dom" for using one.

haha, For real.

"Hurry, stab me!"

[AND LATER THAT NIGHT]

"Calm down. It's just blood. A lot of blood."

THE END

P.S. - otherwise known as EMT shears.

Really? A cheese grater? ... Any way. As already said. Scarfs, blindfolds, pantie gags, hell even socks can be used. But it would be prudent to talk with the person before hand to see what they want to see or try before you just take them into a situation and say "Check this out". That tends to freak people out more than not.

By all means man, get your next virgin into the room with a simple yet elegant sybian, but make sure you've tried it on yourself first. That ought to do it, because you shouldn't use things unless you know first hand what they do.
Let me know how that works out.
Good luck.
I agree to try out anything you plan to use and know what it does. The sybian is very pricey for a beginner toy. When playing with inexperienced subs, a good pair of suspension cuffs and ropes do fine. Add a good rabbit vibrator and hands work wonders.
Beginning for me is progressing to spread eagle bondage and a lot of foreplay. As you know each other better, you can progress to the other things we do.

I see a lot of people mentioning silk scarves.

These are not for beginners. They have way more "bite" than the scary ropes do. The only time I ever needed to use safety shears was with silk scarves. Don't use them until you've practiced a bit.

I do sometimes engage in breath play - this is not advocating for it, it can get someone killed - but it's dangerous and the silk scarves I used were far scarier in use than those scary ropes are. Silk scarves are romantic in novels. In practice they are a bit on the scary side.

I like to use nylon rope. It's not as romantic, true, but it's far less scary in practice. Dye it pink or sky-blue. Those are non-scary colors that may make your evening have a happy ending.

Good luck.

They are talking about scissors that are only blunt on the ends but very sharp were the cutting is done. That way there is no way to stab the person while slipping the blade between the skin and rope or tape that binds them.

When i first discovered my more sadistic streak my first "toy" was a long handled plastic shoehorn. Made a nice smacking noise as well
