3 weeks before the event: Hmm, this looks interesting. *clicks "Maybe going"*
4 days before the event: Wait, what did I RSVP to?
3 days before the event: I might go if all the other cool kids are going... *starts checking out the RSVP list to see who is who*
2 days before the event: Eh, I don't have any other plans for the weekend, so might as well.
1 day before the event: *shaves, trims, avoids uber-greasy food, reorganizes the toy bag for maximum efficiency*
12 hours before the event: *le yawn* What a beautiful morning! And it's my day off!! And I'm going to a kinky event tonight!!!
10 hours before the event: *puts away the laptop and gets out of bed*
9 hours before the event: Gah, this is gonna be a disaster! I'll have to drive an hour there, then an hour back, and I'll get stuck in traffic and my car is going to catch on fire and explode and nobody will be there anyway and somebody will call the cops and they'll raid the party and we'll all be on the news and I'll lose my job and I'll end up living under a bridge and fighting mutated sewer rats for food and it's all because I went to the stupid event thing.
3 hours before the event: *looks at the empty pizza boxes and coke cartons, puts down the PS3 controller* Meh, might as well go. Can't be any worse than this.
2 hours before the event: So, according to Google Maps, I'll have to drive 40 miles, navigate through the labyrinth of what passes for highways here in Texas, then try to find a parking spot in the middle of downtown. That doesn't sound too bad...
1.5 hours before the event: *meticulously writes down the address of the event, the name of the coordinator and other pertinent details on a piece of paper*
1.2 hours before the event: *loses the piece of paper*
1 hour before the event: Toys: check! Directions: check! Very fragile and carefully cultivated optimism: check!
Away we go!
30 minutes before the event: Blergh, I hate this traffic...
20 minutes before the event: the car catches on fire.
