So when is an orgy an orgy? How many people are required before it can be considered an orgy?

MasterCaneman -> RE: Orgy! (10/30/2013 8:16:22 AM)

I have some experience here. Any number less than seven tends to scatter into available rooms or private spaces instead of staying in the main play area, I've noticed. Also, odd numbers seem to cause more interactive behaviors. People tend to pair up and stick with their first partner with even numbers. Remember to take frequent rest breaks and stay hydrated, too.

As we were discussing, I'll say four or more if the people are sexually interacting. People fucking while others are present doesn't necessarily equate an orgy in my opinion, I think there has to be participation more group interaction. I guess the question is, does the activities of those 4 or more people change how it's classified? Like if everyone is having sexual interaction vs a couple having sex with others present but not interacting?

I made my vote at four since I know personally it can be done with as few as four. But the number it self doesn't make it an orgy. It's that multple interactions with various combinations that tips it over into orgy land.

LadyPact -> RE: Orgy! (10/30/2013 9:11:17 AM)

I went with five or more. I wanted at least one additional person above four because that gets too confused with swapping or pairing off in some manner.

Yes, I agree with Danielle that it means all parties participating, rather than observing.

I voted five or more, not that I would know. I was shy and virginal back in the day.

FR~

I didn't vote because I don't think an actual number is relevant.
In the same way some people think 3 or more is a crowd and others have a much higher figure for that description.
I think it is very much a personal perception.
I have been in situations where there have been more than a dozen people and I wouldn't call the activities an orgy.
I have also been witness to a group of just 3 individuals and that was just as much an orgy as a room full of people all fucking each other and swapping around like crazy.

Merriam Webster defines an orgy as "a sexual encounter involving many people".
So I guess it's what you consider as "many" in that context.

Five or more

At least five. You go from threesomes to foursomes. Then fivesomes/orgy.

But any more Han 20 people is too many unless you have a big enough place. Otherwise it's "oww hats my hair', "that's my tit you're stepping on"," oww you bastard it's Sarah who likes it up the ass not me". "Shit, which one is Sarah again".

Winterapple -> RE: Orgy! (10/30/2013 4:52:35 PM)

I agree, five tips it, four is pretty cozy still.
When you get to double digits you've probably
got an all out free for all which is one definition
of an orgy. I don't know that everybody in the room
has to participate physically. You can have a wallflower
at the orgy. The exhibitionists enjoy an audience.
And if there's a voyeur present there's someone to
give a recap afterwards.

MadameMarque -> RE: Orgy! (10/31/2013 4:51:56 AM)

I was going to go with a number as small as 3 or 4, but others' reasoning and the dictionary definition of the word convinced me to go with 5, minimum.

I agree that an orgy, as opposed to a "play party" or a "dungeon" or dungeon party, seems like it would be defined by everyone present participating, at least off and on. Also, when I imagine the minimum number of people, it seemed to me at first, that even 3 might have an orgy, if they came together at the orgy, rather than all of them being established partners beforehand. So my idea of an orgy seems to involve mixing it up, too.

But could established partners have an orgy? It would still have to be at least several people and they'd have to all be participating, and it would have to be for a period of time that would make it more of an event, as opposed to a brief bout of group sex, before it would rise to the level of an orgy. It's pretty subjective.

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: Orgy! (10/31/2013 4:47:00 PM)

I went with 5+ for pretty much the same reasons as LP.
