But if he doesn't give me time to cook for Thanksgiving I am going to scream.
He can't cook. He hasn't done more than grill a steak or burgers in the ten years we've been together.

But trying to help when I'm baking bread to turn into stuffing is driving me bonkers.

Go away, watch football. And next week this time I will be back to normal.

Rant over, thanks for listening.

OMG
You are baking bread just to turn into stuffing ???

I bow in humility to your culinary excellence. So impressed.

What kind of bread ? And. Will you toast it and then crumble it??

What else is on the menu?? !!!! (Besides the turkey).

I thought I loved cooking. Now I feel like a schlub. :)

One, two, three...deep breath!
Now, exhale. Dinner will be fantastic.

You could always delegate him to dirty dish duty.

I was baking cookies today, some of which got a Hershey kiss in the middle. I turn around and I was two kisses short. And frantic to get the bag out and two more out of the foil in time to go into the cookies when it came out of the oven.

Blame Alton Brown for the homemade bread for stuffing. He went on about it.
White bread, just plain farm bread. And yes, tear or chop roughly and toast. To be combined with sausage and apple and onions and celery. And fennel seed because I'm not much on sage. So a sweet Italian sausage.

And if I come down to the freezer on Wednesday and discover someone ate all the cookies murder will be done, and you'll read the article and know it was me.

Dude. If you have two cookies left and you've run out of kisses, you stuff stuff them in your mouth and deny they ever existed.
Everyone knows that!

I agree that making bread just for stuffing is a bit over the top.

As for someone interfering with cooking? No jury in the land will convict you if you start throwing knives. When I am in my 'cooking space' DO NOT INTERRUPT!

No problem. I only looked in because on the scroller without my glasses I thought it said he was a great goy.

You're driving your own self nuts. Who the hell cares if you're two cookies short? And you're baking bread for stuffing purposes? You're obsessing over perfection. And considering minor annoyances (e.g., your Dom) as major things.

The goal is a happy holiday. Not a picture perfect meal with everyone stressed out.

Don't worry, be happy.

You're a smart girl.Manipulate the situation.Arrange for him to be busy early in the day when you are cooking. Buy him a massage. Send him to the liquor store. Placate his vast alcohol knowledge in sending him. Have him shop for items that "must be bought fresh."
Distract him, divert him, send him off the field of battle.

Be careful with that one. I personally know a guy whose ol' lady sent him to get a fresh chicken, and he went out to a poultry farm and got the freshest chicken he could find-a live one. He told me it was totally worth the trouble to see the look on her face when he showed up back home.

He's that too.

And to add insult to injury, Thanksgiving is the first night of Hanukkah. So, twice baked potatoes or latkes?

I enjoy cooking. And I've been doing breads lately so this gives me a reason to try a new bread recipe. It's not drudgery for me, it's fun.

You know that book that I keep joking about? A thousand reasons why I'm not submissive? I'm going to credit this page to you.

Seriously? MP isn't a stupid man. He knows that kitchen is MINE. He's entirely too dangerous out there.

As a side note, however...... Baking bread for stuffing? That's pretty darn industrious. How many are you having for dinner?

And is there room for a few more?

Pfft, I wish my problem was as simple as keeping my man out of my way. I have to worry about his 87 year old mother slowing me down - in HER kitchen

He's said I can bring a shoebox full of my own gear...got to get some REALLY big shoes!

It appears to be six or seven, only we're doing it over the weekend as my kids just got their work schedule and they're both scheduled to work (front of house) from 8:30AM until 9:30 Pm. Big hotel.

The whole purpose of starting stuff a week ahead was to do one dish a day and have zero stress on T Day. If people would only let me.

And yes, one year I discovered at the last minute that my son had raided the freezer and eaten all the cookies. You could have bought him cheap that year.

I think you're being a SMIDGE over reactive here.....

The man has grilled steak, has he not?

You've had an entire year to prepare for Thanksgiving....he....a phone call "Hon....some people are coming over...it's warm outside...."

And his warning?

A phone call.

I think a little "get up and go" is called for here.

(Let's not forget the biscuits while you're at it).
