One of the most unfortunate....sometimes my response to pain stimuli is inappropriate, involuntary laughter.

Many people laugh when they feel pain, it is a common response. Laughing isn't inappropriate, it's quite logical actually. The biology and psychology behind it is interesting because of what laughter does. Laughter is the body's way of releasing endorphines and reducing the pain. Laughter also relieves anxiety. The common misconception about laughter is that it is only a response to humor.

It's an anxiety response, and I understand that. But, there have been times where it has popped up at the worse possible time....not only during kink.

I do empathize with you . . . timing can make it quite awkward. When she laughs during the first few cracks on her ass from my bullwhip, I turn it into a game. I put on my best Lord John Whorfin voice and say, "laugh-a while you can, monkey-boy. If you think this is funny, wait until I whip your nipples. Bifurcated nipples are the latest fashion in New York ya' know." Then I whip her titties. So I incorporate her laughing into the spirit of it.

But I have seen some Tops become very distraught at laughter. They pull out their biggest, scariest, most painful gear and the bottom laughs like a school girl when they get hit. Drives the Top nuts.

Like I said, I empathize with you about that.

Other times he tells me to shut up...

Mmmm, we were about to start a scene the other night and I thought of something unrelated he should know and opened my mouth to tell him and he told me to shut up, which I found really hot and zapped me right into a good headspace.

I had a hard time getting used to his no talking rule when we first started scening, but now appreciate how not talking helps me (forces me to?) let go of control. (I have a "safe snap" which I haven't had to use in a really long time as he's picked up on non verbal cues.)

Yeah there are times when it just helps me to let go by not talking. Other times he just finds my noises and voice annoying and doesn't want it. Like me, we both like our silence at times. We can sit around forever in just silence with each other lol. Other times I just get too loud for him or where we are. I especially hate hate hate it when we're in public and he decides to hurt me without anyone knowing. Any idea how hard it is to not scream when in pain? It's not easy. I try to make it look like I have something in my eye when it happens. [:D]

NuevaVida -> RE: -=verbal sound of pain=- (11/26/2013 7:08:16 PM)

I have a variety of reactions, depending on what's going on in life, my mood, our closeness or if I've felt distant...

Sometimes I refuse to let him see the pain, of course, until he escalates it until I'm sobbing, and then I'm pissed off about it and he usually laughs and kisses me.

Sometimes I turn into a total SAM (often, actually), especially if I'm in a good mood, and we're totally connected. SAM just comes out, in total smart-ass comments, laughter, mocking, etc., and he usually laughs his ass off and hurts me harder. As soon as some smart-ass comment comes out of my mouth I know I'm doomed but I can't help myself. He loves it - usually says, "THERE she is!!!!" and goes to town.

Sometimes I'm just super sensitive and need to hurt. I'll shriek or scream or gasp and usually will start crying.

Other times I strike back, either hitting or kicking or biting. I can't help it, it's what comes out of me, and he either lets me or curbs me in, whatever his preference at the time. Like KoM, he prefers authenticity (although he's trying to get me to stop biting him lol).

The thing is, I really don't like pain. But my reaction to it tends to instigate more!

littlewonder -> RE: -=verbal sound of pain=- (11/26/2013 7:16:44 PM)

Master's been trying to get me to stop kicking and hitting. I can't help it. It's just a reaction kinda like when you go to the doctor and they hit your knee. I don't mean to do it and I don't even realize he's in the way until it's too late. He usually binds me but sometimes it comes loose from me pulling on them so hard. I've been known to even break chains once or twice.

NuevaVida -> RE: -=verbal sound of pain=- (11/26/2013 7:18:38 PM)

He's curbing my biting by biting me back. I HATE being bit.

So, last night, I bit him and then said "OOPS, I'm not supposed to bite you am I???!" [:D]

We're getting there. Slowly. Heh.

Now I will usually find a pillow or nearby blanket and chomp down on it. Still a natural reaction, just not chomping his skin open.

The hitting & kicking I think he kinda likes.

HarryVanWinkle -> RE: -=verbal sound of pain=- (11/27/2013 12:09:50 PM)

I usually start with sub-vocal growling. As the energy exchange and the pain grows, the growling gets louder and louder and becomes screaming. When I get to orbit, the screaming turns to whimpering.
