In the case of someone asking you, Who said that?
you would answer; I?

I will be damned. Learn something new everyday.  I would be of the opinion that at the end of the day, enough should be spelled enuf. and the ie and ei shit abolished.  So colour I know, but rarely use.

Question: "Who said that?"
Answer: "I said that."

Question: "Who said that?"
Answer, "Both Caitlyn and I said that." or, "Caitlyn and I both said that."
(These rules don't seem to apply to professional athletes in American, who seem to think that, "myself and Caitlyn" would be the way to go.[;)])

If you don't mind taking a suggestion ... try teaching English GrammAr 101.

English GrammEr 101 will get you thrown out of the spelling bee.[;)]

I was taught:

When the pronoun functions as a subject, it must be in the subjective case.
Examples:
Mary and I drove to the store. (correct)
Mary and me drove to the store. (incorrect)

When a pronoun functions as a subject complement, it should not be in the subjective case.
Examples:
Jane drove Mary and I to the store. (incorrect)
Jane drove Mary and me to the store. (correct)

I was also taught now to completely highjack a thread. [;)]

If it's really true that only 22% of the population has a passport (and I didn't know this), then I think it's a fair inference that only 22% of the population think it's worthwhile to get a passport.  And that means a lot of people--roughly 78%, wouldn't you say?--DON'T think it's worthwhile.

I didn't come to any of the "conclusions" you said I did, but, as usual, you're arguing by misstating the other person's position and repeating your own ad nauseam.

I think it would be nice if more than 22% of the American population wished to go to places other than Canada, Mexico, and the Virgin Islands.

Coming to the conclusion that only 22% of Americans have travelled abroad or desire to travel abroad, because at any given point in time roughly 22% of American hold a current passport, is connecting things that are not connected.

That's what happens on a message board.

You're just angry because it's been like 48 hours since you called someone a racist on here, and you are out of your comfort zone.[;)]

What influences world opinion on the US...does it mattter?

What the US does and has done, that so few US citizens are aware of. But the rest of the world is too painfuly aware of. Not that only the US has done these things. It is the continuation of it and ignorance of it happening for the US citizens.

EnglishDomNW -> RE: What influences world opinion on the US...does it mattter? (7/9/2006 11:45:47 PM)

I think that's the perfect point, Kedikat, which is why the Internet is such a good thing.  Suddenly, if you doubt what your national media is telling you, in seconds you can go and see what other nations are saying about the same thing and discuss it with anyone on Earth with the same access.

Last night for example, almost immediately after the World Cup ended I was taunting French people with really bad Franglais.  "Vous French, vous est merde, et Zidane est un headbuttez wankere."

Lordandmaster -> RE: What influences world opinion on the US...does it mattter? (7/9/2006 11:49:47 PM)

Et pour cette headebutte les francais ont possiblement perdu le match.  Merci, Zidane!

What a ridiculous sport.  The most important sporting event in the world (so they say) is decided on les penalty kicques.

EnglishDomNW -> RE: What influences world opinion on the US...does it mattter? (7/9/2006 11:51:56 PM)

caitlyn, I bet you are now spell-checking everything you post and quadruple-checking for grammatical errors.  I wonders if you will be noiticing anythnig else from now on.

Shizzle mah fookin' nizzle.

As a football fan I hate to admit it, the spectacle was dour and Zidane's headbutt the only excitement in a game that was dull as dishwater.

caitlyn -> RE: What influences world opinion on the US...does it mattter? (7/10/2006 7:04:51 AM)

Not really. I'm sure I make my share of mistakes. I'm also sure I don't claim to be teaching grammer 101. [;)]

Why don't we just let this crap die. We aren't going to agree. I'm supposed to take your jabs as ha-ha funny, but when I jab back, you accuse me of being hyper sensitive ... and somewhere in there, I became a hooker. [;)]

LAM has picked nits with anything and everything I've posted since I called him out for over-play on the racism card (my opinion). Funny, we got along great before that.

There, I'm done ... you guys can have the last shot. I'll be sure to read, so don't hold back. [;)]

On the soccer thing ... first, I know jack shit about soccer. The ending would have been more exciting if they did the penalty kicks on a goal about half the size and with the ball starting further away. They kept talking up that Italian goalie, and the closest he got to a ball was about five feet. It would have been cool to see a real man-on-man matchup to end that game.

I don't know why that line made me laugh so much but it did.

And on the Zidane head butt, the guy just got the award for the best player in the tournament.  They need a serious review of their awards - he's a good player but headbutting an opponent in the final of the World Cup should have docked him a few points.
It's here if anyone missed it

I'm not sure why he butts him in the chest - it's as if he thinks not going to get red carded so long as he doesn't do it in the face.

IMO- what the US does to others- it would do to its own people...case in point, Katrina.

global domination, includes global media. altho- not quite as bad in the EU/CA, it is creeping this direction. [rupard murdock..putting tons of cash into website aquization]

the internet is the lone source.  governments try to control it, and corporatists have a telecom bill in the Senate....i cant stress enuff how important Net Nuetrality is to us peons. if the proposed telcom law goes thru- the net as we know it will be gone. this will effect people all over- the flow of ideas will be controlled by gatekeepers, [verizon, ATT, comcast, bellsouth-etc]  much like tv is now. the average joe will have no voice.

we are so screwed.

I guess I need to take back  that statement I made in another thread. I do block spammers. I don't consider them people though.

Lordandmaster -> RE: What influences world opinion on the US...does it mattter? (7/10/2006 10:03:44 AM)

When you say something I agree with, I agree with it.  When you say something I disagree with, I disagree with it.  I don't agree with the line you're taking about passports, and I'm not going to let you misrepresent what I say when I disagree with you.  You have a habit of doing that, and it gets annoying.

Whatever you and I have said in the past about racism has nothing to do with this.  At this point, YOU'RE the only person who's making an issue of that.

NB I used to know a member of the English Womens Rugy team - wonderful lass, petite, fast, hard as nails.....

NB - Rugby Union - Leagues a barborous game full of ruffians.
