fast reply- Christie seems to be under investigation by the Feds now.. and I have heard some of those people "inconvenienced" by the bridge closure are suing him for that too.. the poor dude's problems seem to be multiplying.. As usual and b/c they`re genetically predisposed and unable not to, rightist media is blaming the MSM media for Christie`s bridge closing and trying to make him into a victim/hero, and trying to drag President Obama into it.... Proof positive that the lunatic-fringe is worried and upset. Gop leadership is freaked out too. Barber and the very French sounding Reince Priebus are screaming BFD. These are the DBs running the national gop election efforts. One headline I read went "Christie`s worst week was in Washington", because of the buzz going on there. The two words heard above the din on the New York-DC train was "Chris Christie", over and over, said one reporter. Unless you`re a wonk, it`s hard to understand all the activity in Washington DC.....and why the DC cons are running around like chickens w/ their heads cut off.... Whether or not it`s proven that Christie knew about the political attack in advance(impeachable), his position as the head of the National Republican Governors Association is toast. The cons aren`t going to want Americans to be reminded about Christies` nakedly savage political retribution. The kind the lunatic fringe is always trying to accuse democrats of committing... Christies` top aid ,who Christie has pawned blame off on, is the #2 guy at the National Republican Governors Association...who of course, will get the boot. It`s also very possible that their top presidential contender, knocked himself out. My prediction on the Sandy Relief funds thing: The LF will scream Obama/Benghazi and claim it`s proof Obama is behind Bridgegate.

A couple other points the lunatic fringe ignores/doesn`t know/doesn`t want you to know.....1. that the POS republicans leaked the secret location of the compound of said CIA operatives during their witch hunt, that was a couple blocks away form the consulate. WOW ------------- Back to the GWB, the NYT ran a good story on how the events played out and impacted the public in its Monday edition. Basically closing the lanes impacted the area significantly and posed a security risk for the bridge.

It was just one lane, sometimes two.....(over a 4 day long period) but there`s a compounding affect that eventually slows most of the lanes down. Some people reported two hour crossing depending on the approach. There was a middle aged woman who had a panic attack and was livid, screaming she had voted for Christie. It got so bad that EMTs had to make their way on foot. No one knew what was happened or was informed. Not the police commander nor the fire-chief. This is how they knew something was fishy and why they called for an investigation. On the 1st day,one official was fearing that this never ending traffic jam would cause folks harm. These are the guys who`re supposed to have direct communication with Trenton or Albany because they are in charge of public safety. That they were ignored for days is inexcusable. I don`t care how many high school buddies Chris throws under a bus,he can`t claim he didn`t know. Christie dissing and mocking a reporter when he asked about Bridgegate shows he was aware of the stunt long before a two days ago.

And for the record the staff at the time was 17 - not hundreds iirc. FR One thing I wonder about while reading this story (and thinking on previous visits to that area of the country), for a city which is built mostly on islands, they obviously have to depend on bridges and tunnels for their commerce and very survival. Yet this story seems to point up the fact that they need more bridges. Maybe they should make that a higher priority. I heard that one reason the George Washington Bridge has such heavy traffic is because a lot of people are afraid to cross the Tappen Zee Bridge further north, as it's in pretty bad shape, from what I've read. Ever since that bridge collapse in Minnesota several years ago, I've always been a bit leery about the safety of bridges.

The Tappan Zee does not actually get you from New Jersey into Manhattan. It crosses the Hudson farther upstream and gets you from South Nyack to Westchester county. IIRC the only direct road connections between Manhattan and Jersey are the GW bridge, the Holland and Lincoln tunnels.
