Lucky me. I'm miserable as can be, can't eat or drink. Just saw the doctor this morning.

I would like some pity if anyone has some to spare.

You have my sympathy in multitudes! Right about Halloween time, I came down with what I thought was strep throat, but it turned out to be Haemophilus, which progressed to bronchitis and then a touch of pneumonia. I wish it had been strep, strep's easier to get rid of! I ended up taking two courses of two different antibiotics and it still kept recurring, till I burned up two boxes of Mucinex DM, several bags of cough drops, tea, honey, you name it. Ugh. The lingering deep cough was pure torture, I couldn't sleep for a couple weeks from it. It took about six weeks to get over it completely.

Tea and honey is the best medicine, though, lots of tea and honey. I hope you feel better soon!

I always feel so ridiculous going in with strep or an ear infection. Those are things little kids get. Not adults.
The doctor said they just got an update this morning about influenza rates in NY. Apparently they've jumped up significantly. He was telling us to stay out of crowds.
I got the shot but The Man didn't.

Yup. I got it in college and I couldn't even believe the doctor was serious.
I also can't believe that its like one of those things you can get a bunch of times, it should be more like mono, one and done.

Sorry to hear you are suffering. Hope you are being well looked after.

I know what you mean about it seeming like a children's illness, but some of those 'minor' illnesses are incredibly painful!

I only had strep once, and it cleared up pretty fast, but then I somehow had an allergic reaction to my own antibodies in fighting it off, and came out head to toe in red spots as though I had the measles. It was funny, in a scary way.

You got my sympathy...usually I would get strep throat from Lizard (former doctor says she is a carrier) so 2 to 4 times a year, I would get sick...while in college. I never got to turn in my paper on Native Americans.

Ah, my single years... from 18 to 27; got strep every year until I got married, and never (knock on wood) had it since. Have had bad colds since my divorce...

Hot tea with honey; lots of bed rest with or without a great companion to pass the time with.

I just reread my post and wanted to clarify....I didn't mean literally that tea and honey is the best "medicine". Of course, the best MEDICINE is the one your doctor prescribes for you! But honey does have healing properties to it, especially for sore throats, from my own experience. I always drink and tell others "tea and honey!" when they're sick

You have my fullest sympathy, i got strep twice and both times i had to go to school, and once they wouldn't send me home, i had to lay on the floor of the class room with a blanket for hours.

We had so many teachers and students out with the flu and strep, I think they would have closed school if Friday had not been our last day of the year. Feel better!

This is the first year in 25 that I did not get my flu shot and it seems like it is going to be one helluva flu season dammit.

the first time i had it, i was in grade school and told the teacher on the yard i felt horrible and i had glands in my neck the size of golfballs and she told me that's normal, they're supposed to be that swollen, because she didn't wanna give me the itme of day to listen to me. so eventually i get sent to the nurse, she takes one look at me and says honey you need to go home. you have strep
