Hot Flash or something else??? - 7/4/2006 11:02:48 PM

Tonight while playing, i started getting incredibly hot, even though the room wasn't warm, sweating profusely and eventually started to get dizzy and had to be taken down and had to lay down for a while. W/we hadn't really started playing yet, just in the getting tied up phase, so it wasn't a reaction to something. But i have never heard of a hot flash making someone almost pass out. Also if this was a hot flash, it was my first one.

So i am really looking for information, as to the possiblity that a hot flash caused what i experienced tonight.

Thank you

Sounds to me like a mild panic attack. Have you ever had a sensation like that before under other circumstances?

I don't think you can tell much from a single incident. Just wait a bit, if it was a hot flash you will have more. And yes,  they can be pretty intense.

No, this was a first time something like this has happened and i have never had a panic attack, so i don't think it was that, but thank you for your advice.

I am going to guess it may have been a hot flash.

I have similar "hot spells" as well, and I will get lightheaded and often times even  nausous.   I have even asked people around me, " is it hot in here?"   They always tell me no.

I seem to go through this at night too.  I will be hot one minute, throw the covers off, and the next minute I am cold, and the covers are back on.

I hate it, and it is not pleasant.
Hope this helps.

I agree that if it was a hot flash and you are peri-menopausal they will become more frequent. There is a test your doctor can do to see if you are peri, although I will say I had 2 false negatives so I don't know how reliable they are.
You can google Menopause and it will come up with some good info even explainations of how the hot flashes usually feel.

Tests are now over the counter in most pharmacies.  Just knowing for sure seems to help or atleast it did for me.

sounds like a hot-flash to this slave, who has had 20 years of experience with them herself.  dizzy, close to passing out while "waves" of heat engulf the body, breaking out in a violent sweat and vertigo are common.  welcome to the wonderful world of the hormone rollercoaster!!!!

Thank all of you for replying, and thank you beth for that exact description, yes that is exactly what happened. Good thing that i like ice play (grinning) as it was definitely necessary last night.

That is what I feel like when I get hungry.

Who knew I was in male menopause?

Yup-sounds like a hot flash to me. I had a hystorectomy about 8 years ago and I've had them ever since. Most of the time it's not as severe as you describe, but sometimes I get very dizzy and light headed, especially if I am in hot weather conditions or  engaged in strenuous activity at the same time. I also sometimes get a stomach ache or nausea.

Did you have your arms up above your head? For some reason that position often causes a hot flash to be worse and causes greater dizziness and nausea. I've noticed this if I'm reaching up into cabinets or cleaning above my head when a hot flash ocurrs.

Yes it started when my hands were tied over my head and continued even after my arms were taken down. i also wondered if the anticipation or nervousness before play exacerbated the hot flash and it seems from what you said, it can make a hot flash more severe. Thank you for all your help.

a note of caution....if your thyroid is compromised, or you have lupus, soya and soya products are to be avoided.

It might have been low blood sugar.  Next time it happens, eat a spoonful of table sugar or a candy bar (Milky Way, etc.).  Any quickly metabolized sugar will work.  If it goes away soon after taking the sugar, it's probably low blood sugar.

Thank you, i hadn't thought of that, but i do tend to not eat a great deal before playing with this Dom as the scenes are usually very intense and i don't feel very hungry beforehand.
