Once I was bound every.night for three nights with police metal cuffs yes you go numb but no damage done that I see yet today but ropes I love cause they are scratchy sometimes, while in sub space I.lose consciousness on my physical surroundings and my body and learned to enjoy the colors and lights mmm good thoughts

I *HATE* working with rope. With the horse farm I do it almost on a daily basis, between leadlines, lunge lines, baling twine and longer lengths, I'm always untying knots and trying to find the ends (not to mention cleaning the floor dirt off the parts that drag). I keep several 75'+ long lengths of rope in My truck for securing large loads of hay bales, lumber, scrap metal, etc. I'm CONSTANTLY having to untangle the effing crap! Sometimes I just want to satisfy My Sadistic urge to take a big knife and cut it all into eensy beensy pieces, then set them all on fire. Of course, knowing My luck I'd be passed by a logging truck, My load of hay would get blown off onto oncoming traffic and kill some pregnant woman in a convertible so I grudgingly keep using it.

Nope, straps and buckles and chains are more fun for Me to work with. I can tighten them and know exactly HOW TIGHT they actually are since they don't have that stretch/swell factor. Plus I love playing with buckles and hearing the clink of chain. I guess it's the gismo-lover in Me.

Yeah? I should try that sometime. Usually I just slip them off.. often with a lot of scraping along the sides of my hand.

Well, all one needs to do is inspect them when they are open, those teeth on the hinged part that completes the circle we will call pawls, now look inside the place where they fit in. That we will call the rachet, take a dowel or a screwdriver and press on it, you will see it is spring loaded, so when the high part of the teeth go accross it it makes room, and then springs up to fill the 'valleys' and mesh the teeth, so we simply need to introduce a thin 'key' and depress the pawl and with a like action from the other side, back it out.

Just look at the fuckin thing guys, handcuffs are simple. look at a handcuff key; simple...it has a little bobby spring pin in the lock and you just need to click it to one side, a bobby pin works...the mechanism is not like a doorlock with pins in it, it is a click clack (hard to explain) , but it takes a great deal of practice to get the feel for it and get it open same time, and real fuckin hard to do behind your back, whereas the slip and slide can be done by an earthworm with only minimal practice, but you need better tools to do it.

Oh, and for those of you contemplating this scenario and making the pick out of the wiperblade metal, don't try to hide it in your ass or something or say I said to do it, this is not as serious as going to Chino or Attica.

You mentioned someone join in ...this means perhaps this was their first time with you? Assuming that, I think asking for directions is a good idea. You would not want him to tie your wrists too tight or perhaps tie rope around your neck too tight. :-) This comes with understanding each others needs and desires.

It is quite easy to facilitate checking without breaking up the mood or the atmosphere of the scene.

Instead of asking whether you are OK or not you can ask the top to simply touch your shoulder with a firm grip. Then you can for example nod if you are OK or shake your head if something is wrong. This has worked well for me for a quite some time in stead of the top to ask me wheter I'm ok or not. This method has much less effect on the atmosphere than asking.

If you touch the shoulder with the firm grip and get no response from the sub, then the sub is either on orbit or something is not wright.

I prefer leather cuffs and anklets -- quick and secure, but when I have used rope my assumption is that the point is they want to be secure and helpless so they are open to experiences they have would not do untied. The bound person has to be checked for any rubbing etc, unless there is an expressed desire to carry around some ligature marks for a little while.

I think subs that are excited by being tied, want it tight. that's the whole point I would think getting into sub space. lack of control..

Personally I prefer someone asking me the first couple of times than just letting him do what he wants (despite it might seeming to kill the mood). It's way too easy to get hurt if you don't let the ty-er know what your limits are. A good way not to kill the mood is just have a general 'getting to bind you' session where you have your limits tested.
