There is always such heated debate surrounding the ownership and use of weapons, even amongst just those who own and glorify them.

Recommend all local gun owners to stand in circular groups, and discharge thier weapons towards the centre.

We can all enjoy that, gun owners or otherwise.

ct

Because only gun owners are ok with killing.

Only when they can use syg as an excuse for being fucking crazy.....

Maybe as your own contribution to solving this problem, you could suggest where the limits of gun ownership should be set.

I would have thought a corrective course of action could easily be inferred from the first post, Cloudboy - better educating the politicians who write the laws, and for the media to assign (or hire) reporters with some basic foundation of knowledge in the subjects they are covering, rather than both simply operating in ignorance. That is the subject of the thread.

To your other,off-topic question, perhaps you missed it, while studying Russian Lit, but we already have a limitation in place - on the authority of our government to infringe the right of the people to keep and bear arms.

I looked up the .12 gauge shotguns and there were 5 sites that even had pictures of them.
Of course they were all 12 gauge.
This is level of ignorance we have to deal with.

So California, not exactly a firearm friendly state to begin with, has some new gun control legislation pending. That's a "set your watch" kind of thing, but what prompted the thread is how it was introduced to the public.

One of our fine state senators came out at the press conference, and made it clear to everyone that he simply has no clue, whatsoever, what the fuck he is talking about. You can view a snip of his remarks, with editorial additions, at the link (less than 1 minute). Ignorance, and hyperbole.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJmFEv6BHM0

The same thing goes on in news stories about guns. 100 rounds gets described as a "large" supply of ammunition. A shooting is carried out with a 22 guage shotgun.

How are we supposed to take these people seriously, even if they have a valid point to make?

Guns are a wunnahful thing....the more the better.

I like them in my house.
I like them shooting mouse
I like them where I shit
I like them anywhere I sit
I find them unobtrusive
I even like them if they're elusive
I like them better when they're in reach
I like them on a beach
I like them when they go "bang"
I like them when they hang (near where I am)
I enjoy them when they're near
But I particularly like them when they cause fear

I would expect an anti gunner to be a big Dr. Seuss fan.

Here in CA, you need to pass a written test, and get a card, just to start the process of buying a gun (it used to just be handguns, but the requirement expanded to long guns on January 1). The little booklet they test you on costs 50 cents.

Had he possessed even the simple knowledge in that state publication, Senator De Leon could have avoided making a complete ass of himself before the cameras.

Yes, but I am glad he didn't because them we wouldn't know he has no idea what he is talking about.

Dear oh dear..... Are you suggesting anything here ?

Not me....... Last time I asked about socks it got me in trouble. Its ironic how some people dont like the accusation but are happy to sling it around, isnt it.

Anyone remember the Co politician who didn't know you could reload a magazine?
I think, but I'm not sure, that she was one of the ones recalled over the gun laws passed there.

So to sum it up, you are taking issue with the suggestion that another poster might be a sock but you don't find the comment suggesting amusement at the idea of all the gun owners killing each other even worth mentioning. Is it because as peon suggested that all those killed would be americans or don't you find the idea of killing someone as bad as you seem to imply you do. There are a lot of gun owners on this thread and I find the idea that someone might think putting them in a circle and shooting each other would be enjoyable kinda disturbing. But yea, calling someone a sock is over the top in comparison.

Lucylastic -> RE: The dreaded 30 magazine clip (1/22/2014 11:48:53 AM)

strawmen, lets see how many there are in the above post...
ready?
1,2,34oh five,
any advance on five?

No, to sum it up you are just making another snidey post, and poking your nose in, as per usual.

I made no comment on Peons post and nothing in the TOS says I have to. I have also implied nothing about killings, I have clearly stated they are wrong so I suggest you try your snarkiness on others.

Lesson of the day, "clearly stated" doesnt mean "implied".....

EdBowie -> RE: The dreaded 30 magazine clip (1/22/2014 6:12:46 PM)

I'm very happy to wait for any backing up of baseless, off topic, thread derailing personal accusations with some real world logic and facts.

Not so happy about holding my breath for weeks and weeks though.

I Googled up 8 lb cannon, and it seems that was Napoleon's artillery of choice - about a 106mm in today's calculations.

Of course, we do have the .410 guage, which throws a wrench into the process, and kicks the whole question of where a .12 guage would be into a good argument topic, over cold beer on a hot afternoon.

Go back to asshat in the original video, and we are dealing with someone who doesn't know the difference between a cartridge and a caliber

Expertise is nice, but I don't care if a politician knows you can stretch your plinking budget by running .38 Special through the .357 (and in a few cases if they know not to try it the other way).

Basic competency. Would we want someone who has never driven a car writing traffic laws?
