I can't recall what type of pipe it is off the top of my head but I seem to recall a conversation on the subject over at fetlife. I'd suggest either searching over there or maybe googling scaffolding.

Most of their stuff is made using Kee-Klamps. They don't sell those at Home Depot, but you can find them on-line easily enough. The pipe that goes between the connectors you can get anywhere.

If its the pipe you are looking for simply Google "Pipe Railings". The pipe and fittings are widely available from many sources. It is the most common type of railing made. It is available in black pipe, galvanized pipe, aluminum pipe and tubing. You might even find it at your local hardware store. Otherwise you need to specify what you are looking for.

Note in addition to Kee Klamp there are Kee Lite. Slightly more expensive, but much lighter - made from aluminum.

Kee Klamps are good looking and fancy but you can get by with simple tube lock scaffolding. And, on occasion, you can get such at a bargain when the industrial rental places rotate their stock out.
