Like you're talking about....an hour and a half to two hours most likely. i have a small bumblebee behind my ear and that alone took an hour and a half. It's only the size of a quarter. And no you won't be lying down. You will have your head bent over a chair most likely or if you are lying down, you will have your neck bent in positions that are not very comfortable. Seeing you have back pain, you WILL be in pain and a tat on your neck will hurt like hell.

ETA: If you're taking meds, many of them can make you bleed out. The tat place will or should ask you about meds. They may not even give you a tat depending on the meds you are taking and whatever health issues you have. It's the same reason they will not give tats to people who have been drinking and/or doing drugs.
I have a tat on a breast and I had ONE drink with lunch before having it done. Guess what? I bled out and it fucked up the entire tat. I also have thin skin which caused many of my tats to not turn out that well. They bled out, they didn't heal correctly and some of the colors never stayed in. If you are adamant about getting a tat, do some LONG, HARD research, talk to your docs and more than one tat artist.

It hurts about 10x more than actually getting the tattoo, but it will get ride of it, at home, at a fraction of the cost of lasers.

If you follow the instructions to the letter -don't go longer than they suggest because you're impatient and can tolerate the pain- there will be no scars. I only have one small scars because I pushed it too far too fast.

To completely remove the tattoo it takes multiple treatments spread out over several months, but if you're covering up anyways, even a single treatment will lighten the tattoo enough (especially black ink) that cover ups become vastly easier, and you'll have way more options available.

Status: offline 		I looked at the machine but it seems to be iffy. I'm not sold on it. I've gone to professional laser removal places and it hurts like a motherfucker and it just takes waaayyy too long to remove. I'm leaning more along the lines of having them surgically removed. I don't care about a small scar that will fade with time and Mederma. Yeah, it's more expensive but imo, worth the time and effort.

Status: offline 		In all honesty I don't care a whole lot about the tattoo anymore. In fact I usually forget it's there unless I catch a glimpse of it in the mirror getting out of the shower or something (it's on my hip). And then I think "Ugh!" But I don't want to spend boo-coo money on it now. Not worth it to me. And it's not a huge deal to the Mister either. We just consider it a war wound. The initials are disguised in a sorcerers hat and flogger. It's kind of weird lol.

I just mentioned this product to him and he said, "We'll see maybe some day."

Status: offline 		unfortunately mine are large and I have quite a few. Neither Master nor I like them. It would take forever to remove them any other way but surgery and I'm just not willing to wait that long.

They suck also because I have to be careful about the work clothes I buy so that they are all covered. I can't wear short sleeve shirts like everyone else or I end up having to wear sweaters or jackets all day long.

At my last job I couldn't pull my hair back at all because then my ear tat would show. Thankfully at my current job, no one cares about that one, just the other ones.

I wouldn't recommend the amazon device I linked to for very large tattoos. NuevaVida's tattoo is just initials, and it works great for that.

The way the thing works is by basically creating a controlled burn on a very small (1/4 of a penny size) dot, while at the same time having a super strong magnet targeting the area. Black ink tends to have iron particles in it, and so gets drawn to the surface in the fresh wound. It works also works on colors by creating a wound-heal-wound cycle that slowly expels some of the ink, but my friend who tried it on color (I've only used it on black) wasn't able to completely get ride of her color.

Because you can only treat a small area at a time, and the areas treated at one time can't overlap, and it takes at least 6 weeks between treatments (preferable longer), and you need at least 2-3 treatments on every spot to get black ink to dissipate completely, large tattoos would take incredible long I'd imagine.

The device has got definite potential for certain tattoo removals, but I'd consider it completely unsuited for others...

Oh and have I mentioned that it hurts like fucking hell? Forcing yourself to hold a steady hand while inflicting a second-third degree burn with a magnet literally pulling little pieces of iron out of the wound as you're doing it ain't fun... at all. My friend says laser treatments were easier.

OMFG....I was in tears after the first zap. I went along for a few more zaps thinking I'd get used to it. Nope. Then got the numbing gel. Didn't make one tiny difference. FUCK! No way in hell I'd ever go back for that! LOL

Yup, surgery it is.
