OMG! So, it took them ("Ash and his partner," you write) the rest of November (from the 11th on), all of Dec., all of Jan., and until the 11th of Feb.  As I see it, that's THREE FULL MONTHS of travel.

OMG! Gay men ("these two lads," you write) escaping that Islamic hell-hole.  How they did it will probably need to be a secret forever since their "enablers" would be found given any clues as to their (the enablers') identitites and physically tortured, probably until dead.  Even a description of the crossings at a unguarded location would reveal those locations which would no longer be unguarded. Etc.

Maybe there were bribed officials.  Maybe there were friendly officials, but once discovered, they would suffer a "fate worse than death" and would be lost to anyone else trying to leave.

I hope "these two lads" approach Gay organizations in the Netherlands for help.  Maybe even something comparable to the USA's Federal witness protection program.  On second thought, probably go directly to the Netherlands' government, asking for political asylum. (There might be ..... moles ... plants ... call them what you will... in such organizations.)  Ash has always struck me as level-headed and well aware of the dangers in what he did, escpecially the need for secrecy and planning; planning down to the last grain of sand on their journey. (Bless YOU, Phoenix, but "Ash and his partner" and "these two lads" when taken together spell gay.  That's the kind of secrecy Ash needs to maintain.)

Congratulations! Well done!  And thank you, Phoenix, for helping them at quite a cost to you. <NO snark intended.  Please take none.>

Just three letters: OMG!

Thanks Lance....don't worry, am not taking it with a snark....only wanted to point out that I was only able to help due to Ash's ability to pay the petrol for their travel in there and as the car was fixed thanks to my partner (as he payed within last 3 months almost 1200 Euro on it, which I would not have had right now)...as I don't want to take credit for things which belongs to others...

Under different circumstances I would have been happy to just drive them through at my cost but Ash's personality also seems to be one who prefers to contribute when he can...but also this thread is mainly for the happiness that Ash made it...as 3 months being on such a journey is a damn long time...

It was just really a pleasure to be able to help him and as I don't know how strict the controls are at the trains to there, we think it was certainly safer to get there within the morning traffic by car...

Whilst the borders are not supposed to be controlled, according to the internet they are using cameras 6 hours per day since about 2012, which are able to control quickly the number plates, make pictures from the front and the side and count how many folks are on board and if they are suspicious they pull you out further behind the border....to fight against crime and illegal immigration...

I was seriously damn nervous as such stuff isn't really my strength to do it without being nervous...

And I also never read that much online about the different borders to try to figure out any clue which one might be best to use....only thing I knew, I had no interest to use the border close to the camp they want to go to, cause I could imagine that they might control there more strictly to avoid more asylum seekers getting there...

On another note...he had a companion with him....not a partner Lance

I would agree that 'living rough' in any First-World country is better than his former residence, but at the same time, I wouldn't call anyone's homeland a 'hell-hole'. I would imagine if you asked him, he would probably have preferred to remain home, without all the mayhem that's going on there. All the same, I wish him and his friend the best of luck.

I guess my romantic nature got the best of me. But, but, I'm sure I read that......

ETA: OTOH, it was 12:53 am local time. (Or, as some Europeans write: 0053. LOL!)
