HouseDom -> First R/T meeting safety tips (2/20/2014 4:03:41 PM)

I have some protocols of my own to make everyone feel more at ease with regard to personal safety at the first real life meeting. As a Dom and as a male, I think it's important that I arrive first and leave last. Beverages should be procured individually and alcoholic beverages should be curbed around two (drinks, that is, not AM :) )

I wanted to bone up on my own personal safety knowledge and query the group for some more "best practices."

Any other good ideas out there for men and/or women?

Meet in a public place. Walk to your car alone and don't go near his car. No D/s, play or sex on the first meeting. (and I made that clear before I ever met anyone) I did not accept or follow any orders from the person I was meeting. I also wore what I was comfortable in.

I just tell them my parole date and have them pick me up at the prison.

Tell a friend where I am going and that I will call her at a certain time. If I do not call, call me and if I do not answer, go to where the meet is. So far it has not been a problem, thank goodness.

Just go for a cup of coffee and hell with the rest. Who cares who shows up first? I was always the first to show up because I have a habit of showing up everywhere as early as I possibly can. Has nothing to do with scoping out the area or anything else. It's just part of my organizational personality. And the rest either falls into place as it should or it doesn't.

Oh and I've always been the first to leave since I was never interested in anything further with anyone I ever met, after the first few sips of coffee. I also never cared who paid for the cup of coffee. It wasn't a date. It was just a cup of coffee. Being always early, yeah I bought all my own.

Never had to worry about the car issue since I always took the bus or walked to other places because I rarely was ever going straight home. I usually make other plans for the rest of the day in case it doesn't work out so I wasn't bored for the rest of the day.

But yeah...just let the chips or dominoes fall where they may. I think we get too caught up in safety that we get so paranoid that you forget to enjoy yourself.

BUT if you are the type who has no self control and you have no common sense and you make poor decisions then yeah...listen to the safety tips here and after that....start figuring out why you do what you do.

I don't see these remarks in any way relating to taking safety precautions. Actually I'm very surprised to see it put that way.

Knowing how to steer a car and which pedal is the brake and which is the gas does not make you a driver. And not thinking of every precaution to take when meeting someone does not make you a dumbass. There may be several things they may not think of, like getting your keys out before getting to your car. You don't want to stand there digging for your keys, especially if it is dark.
