I allowed a friend request, but have no more contact with that person and wish to end the illusion that we are somehow in a form of relatedness, (which actually never manifested).

How do I un-friend a friend?

Did you try blocking them? That may make their pic disappear in your Admirers.

Blocking them won't take them off your list. It will just prevent them from contacting you.

On your profile, there's a button on the sidebar labeled Friends. Click on that. At the top of the page is another button called Allowed Friends. Click on that. Find the photo or name of the person you want to remove and click on it, then click on the link that says Remove From Allowed Friends. That will remove them from your friends list.
