In what I have written I am tilting at windmills and engaged the evil one is ceremonial combat.

It was like reading a passage from the Gorean fantasy novels. We know that it is science fiction.

Funny how easy it is for people to see that of every religion other than the one they were brainwashed from childhood into believing.

BenevolentM threads typically consist of numerous pages of only one poster (BenevolentM) where he in post after post talks about things which are unrelated and make no sense in any way that I can fathom.

It's usual for BM - he makes no sense at all at any time.
And I'm pretty sure he does this just to boost his own post count.
That's why he is one of the few I have hidden.

Well who can blame him? Those free CM cruises you can earn with your post counts are great.

I figured this was his version of a blog and he does this instead of getting his own blog because this way people are more likely to accidentally read it.

Reminds me of a guy nicknamed Jersey Jesus. This guy had come up with the plan to hike a section of the Appalachian Trail along with the thru hikers in order to convert us. When I came upon him the guy was dry heaving from dehydration so badly that he couldn't even manage to drink water. Everyone he'd been trying to proselytize to had flat out run from him and he'd seriously fucked himself up trying to keep up.

One of the things I noticed is they are hyper-conservative in their thinking, extreme far right.

Religious right, yes, absolutely. Fiscal right, they are pretty middle of the road, with a fondness for infrastructure, good public schools and parks.

I was dragged along to their Sunday school a few times, and find their holy book laughable. I also consider the early history of the church to be an ugly stain on the history of my country.

You will find very good people, and very good neighbors, in a Mormon church. You'll also find a structure that lends itself very well to the true believer types, a worldview that encompasses life, not just Sunday morning. Is it Tuesday night Bible study, Friday night youth/singles/family group, or are they all brainwashing sessions? It depends on what you think of people of faith, and the communities they form.

Do understand though that all the people in her new life will be telling her she'll be better off without you in it. A rotten guy might make it difficult for her to get away, but most people who start getting sucked in to the church, and then decide oh hell no instead, just walk away without more than a missionary call or three. I wouldn't worry about coordinating a rescue and deprogramming mission.

ETA: When I say the holy book is laughable, I mean in terms of the mythology - there is some very good stuff in there about being excellent to ones self and each other, too.

Bwah hah hah ha ha.....Your whole party is so far to the right ya`ll fell off the edge of the earth.....

To the normal folks......

Believe it or not, one of the most accurate and truly descriptive tellings of the Mormon story is on South Park

Many who are so-called religious fear evil so much they are incapable of goodness. I would rather be a sinner and liked by God. The word love in relation to God has been so over used I would prefer the term like. I would rather here the words I like you from God, than the words I love you.

If God likes you, He will forgive you. Did Jesus care if you were a sinner? Yes and no. The only thing Jesus cared about in an immediate sense was whether or not he liked you. If Jesus likes you, you're in. The next question of course is how do you get him to like you. Now that is where sin comes in, but it was not His foremost priority. This is very clear. Many, however, make the mistake of making sin the foremost priority.

I think or should I use the word suspect? that you are missing the point. Ask not whether the man is a fool. Ask does Jesus like this man?

I don't think the BM phenomenon that numerous posters have commented on is a matter of foolishness. A "fool" would still have some sort of a coherent thought process. As far as we can tell you often are just blurting random things, it's like Tourettes syndrome meets christianity.

Since the criteria is whether or not Jesus likes you, there is a great deal of latitude. Even sinners such as Mormons could qualify depending on His mood.

Isn't that a bit convenient perhaps overly convenient? It can be.

It might have been something that was past its prime, even while being blurted out.
