What I am proposing is Democratic because it gives everyone an equal stake. Everyone is a stake holder.

That said, it is often necessary to embrace one's inner Putin.

So you are proposing the rich arent taxed and they give out of the goodness of their hearts?
Thats a beautiful dream. Even the well intended might forget ya know, their own lifes and all going on.

This poll is an expression of my inner Putin. I do not know why no one has figured that out yet.

Not exactly. It is not an either-or. I am proposing that the rich are taxed like everyone else. On the other hand we also need to encourage a climate of generosity and goodness towards one's fellow man so that both rich and poor also give voluntarily.

When the capacity of society to give voluntarily is low, taxes are increased. As the capacity of society to give voluntarily is high, taxes are decreased.

If you want lower taxes, then demonstrate a capacity to give voluntarily. If you cannot give voluntarily, you are undeserving of low taxes.

We can't do away with the income tax.

The income tax is needed as a temporary measure to pay off the debt from the Spanish American War of 1898.

The gub'mint told a so when they enacted an income tax in 1914 and you know our gub'mint never lies or screws things up.

It would be a shock to the system initially. The economy is not as fragile as they claim. It would be a regime change and regime changes are not without precedent. The income tax when it was first introduced was a regime change and a shock to the system. We survived.

Notice that the income tax came into existence around the time communism took hold.

Can enough money be raised through a flat tax or national sales tax? Why not? Seriously, why can't it be? The only thing the government might have to worry about is that it would make it easier for everyone to figure out how much of their hard earned dollar goes to the government. It would encourage transparency. People may take a greater interest in how their money is spent.

What I am saying is that as a practical matter we are a commune. Why? Because the wealthy are an endangered species. Though we are a commune we aspire to be something better, that is a society of generous rich folk.

There are a lot of people who have a vested interest in class warfare and may not like what I am proposing. People are used to pitting rich against the poor and the poor against the rich. Instead of learning to respect each other, we spend our time learning to disrespect each other.
