A federal jury in New York found a mechanic and a former librarian guilty on Friday of conspiring to kidnap women in order to satisfy sexual fetishes for rape and murder that they originally nursed online via Internet message boards.

All I can say that is what happens when you take fantasy and try turning it into fact. Some people cannot tell the difference. I am sure they won't get life but at least it makes a statement.

The worst line was that membership increases markedly on that website after convictions.

I hope the fantasy, at least part of it, works out well for them in prison. I'm confident there will be some hard hitting thugs that will be excited over the idea of using them for fuck meat.

So let me get this straight. They never actually put a hand on anyone, this is all chat, postings on a website, and phone calls between a fetishist and a narc. Yes, there are some specific details and suggestions, as typically happens when a thread detailing a fantasy goes on for a while. One of the defendant's wives knew about the online chatter and use of her pictures and allowed it to continue along with their own BDSM play. Effectively speaking, she was an active participant, not a mere witness.

Two questions to start. If I take time, I'll come up with many more so I'll stop with these two. If the prosecutors "knew" the wife was lying, why didn't they charge her with perjury? How is this anything other than prosecution of thoughtcrime?

Well FelineRanger, from what I read not only did they think it but they also conspired to kidnap the wife and another female (who was a FBI agent) and purchased products and items to do so. I believe that crosses the line of thought crime.

I think membership increases because the article posts the site name and people are curious. I think I actuall went to that site when the first article hit just to look at it. Didn't join though.

'Baffles me that truth and reality can be stranger than fiction.

I have take down and rape play fantasies - both as the perp and as the victim.

The line is clear: once you start moving from fantasy and enacting that to doing it for real, it does become conspiracy to commit the crime.

Even discussing doing it for real is some seriously dangerous stuff. Say you're fantasizing but the person you are talking to is getting interested in doing it for real? You're aiding a crime!

It's simple: everyone is consensual and it's all above board from the start, in every discussion, or it's not kink, it's criminal.
