Hi there& blessed be.
Im trying to find others within the community that share similar beliefs and would like to talk a bit.
I'm Wiccan. I specialize in Candle magic, refreshing myself in hoodoo[herbs] and refreshing on reading tarot.
I welcome anyone curious and openminded and believe that we all can be mature enough to discuss religion <3
Thank you and can't wait to hear from you.

Hi there. I'd like to believe that we can all be mature enough to discuss religion, too. I'd like to believe that.

I'm agnostic myself. I neither believe nor disbelieve, nor do I claim to know what's out there beyond this planet. What other people believe neither benefits me nor hurts me, so I just live and let live when it comes to other belief systems. I fervently believe in the First Amendment and Freedom of Religion. However, I'm also the kind of person to whom nothing is sacred, and the First Amendment also covers Freedom of Speech. So, I may be somewhat outspoken about religion from time to time.

Hi and welcome to the forums!

I think you'll find some sympathy for your beliefs and interests here, IPSD, but this particular forum can be quite aggressive. Your topic might be better dealt with in, say, 'Off Topic'. Just a warning.

My brother is a Wiccan high priest.
That side of the family have a recognised coven.
I sent him your opening post and the one thing he absolutely exploded about was the tarot cards.
Basically he said, no proper and decent Wiccan would indulge in tarot because it belongs in the Black Arts, not Wiccan.

I myself, loosely follow the ways of Pagan and more druid than neo.
No doubt you'll get the bible bashers on here too.
So you'll probably need a thick skin to be tolerant of them as they can be quite vociferous.

I agree with both you and Tommy. The problem, though, isn't what people believe but when they start acting upon those beliefs to the determent of others. Still, as religions go, Wiccan (at least what I know about it which, admittedly, isn't all that much) is rather benign. As for me, the closest I come to worship is sitting on the deck of the family cabin in the woods during a misty morning sunrise. Those moments, more than any other, are why I consider myself an agnostic rather than an atheist.

freedom, that's weird, because I know a bunch of Wiccans and for them most of the methods are tools and the way they are used define left or right hand path, I always thought most of them were less dogmatic, that they worship the forces of nature, law of 3 and the credo is harm no one, first time I heard that they associate tarot cards with black arts.

I am Pagan, with leanings towards Wicca. I used to use Tarot to figure out answers but I refuse to use a Ouija Board. I am not practicing now except for candle magic to help friends out, especially health wise.

Welcome to the forums, IcepopSugardrop.

The political participants here in Politics & Religion can be rather abrasive, so I suggest you just ignore or Hide anyone who rubs you the wrong way and give your energy to the posters who offer civil discourse.

I know very little of Wiccan, only what my brother practices within his coven.
And yes, Wiccan, like Pagan, and the many off-shoots of both, have an underlying premise to follow nature and harm no-one. That is the basic roots of both of them.
But I guess, like many other 'religions', there are various factions within the overall umbrella.
A bit like 'christian' or 'islam' has many different off-shoots, some even vehemently against each other.

The only thing I will comment on, is the fact that for those within this sphere of idealism (for want of a better word), is that an awful lot of them, myself and brother included, consider it as a way of life rather than the traditional idea that it is a "religion" per se.
The reason for that (and I'm only guessing here) is that by having nature itself as a root rather than a person or an ethereal being, makes a huge difference in how we ourselves view it.
And unlike most religions, we don't have a 'holy book' to follow rigidly.
There's the wonderful story of Mother Earth and her two side-kicks (the Holly and Oak kings) that are used to describe the fundamentals of nature, rebirth, the seasons, and the whole cycle of things; it is just a story and we treat it as such rather than it being a literal 'truth' to be followed to the letter.

Would that make Lacuna Potata an insertion fetish?

Now, as to Wicca, are we talking eclectic, Gardnerian Traditions, Alexandrian Traditions, or what variant?

Did you know there are now Wiccans in the Chaplain's Corp? Back in the day, you just had to check "other religions" when you filled out the forms to get your dog tags made.

My Mom's best friend is Wiccan and when you go into her kitchen it is filled with all sorts of herbs. When she cooks she chants and makes spells. Her house is so down-to-earth and there are plants and crystals everywhere. It's really cool.

Wow. This is certainly odd. Tell ya why... I hardly EVER come down the basement. But tonight I was doing some reading on tarot and paths and the like...
Now I call myself a Christ follower, meaning I try to be as Christlike as possible. I don't go to church (I should). And there are things written in the Bible that I question. I pray regularly and have a relationship with God. That being said, I dabble in...lack of better words..using my third eye and senses.
I've been torn between wondering if I can be a Christ follower and indulge in these things.
Soooooo... Point is, I was totally gonna start the exact same thread as you. Something told me to come down and Lo and behold I see your post. Awesome!!!

I've recently become very interested in candle magic and tarot.
My wife labels me as a witch. She knows more about this stuff than me.
I asked how I can be such and follow the Christian or Christ like faith.
She explains magic isn't a religion.
Your thoughts OP...

The Crowley Tarot (The Book of Thoth) is based on the Tree of Life (as some would argue all versions are), about which the following:

In Christian Cabala, Tiphereth is especially associated with Jesus Christ, 'God the Son' (as opposed to Kether, which is God the father, and Yesod, the Holy Spirit). This is because this is the Sephirah in which the divine force 'sacrifices' itself, transmutating into the forces of energy and matter, in order that creation might come to be. It is the sephirah in which 'God becomes a mortal man'. Illustrative of the process of Tipharet is Jesus' teaching in the Book of John, "No one comes to the Father except through me". Kether is raw energy as the Godhead and is as such unknowable by the conscious mind; Tiphareth (the son) balances the force and form of Kether and Yesod respectively allowing Kether to assume a knowable form. A Christian mystic, in relating to Jesus, repeats the process in the other direction, by transmutating that which is lower, in order to achieve the divine. In terms of the Kabbalah, Tipharet encompasses not only "God the Son" but also the related myths of Osiris and other sacrificial gods. ~Source
