OK, one of the characters was a lawyer.
He had a client who was accused of murdering her husband with an axe (just because
she was still hacking when the police arrived)
The lawyer argued that since she had never been convicted of anything before she should
be released without bail.
The judge released her in the lawyers custody, with the condition that she stay with him.
His view of the threat she posed did a real quick 180.

That is looking problematic. I spent an hour on the phone today with one of the community activists working this on the public outcry side, and they have been completely fucked. The community press conference Friday was dominated by the scammers, self-promoters, and downright scum of the crop. The Nation of Islam bigot* got the mic and said for the reporters and cameras that the only solution was to execute Hubbart. If those sorts are allowed to own the issue, the respectable folk won't be coming out, and silence equals acceptance.

(* just for clarity, this is the same guy who hopped to the mic at a Trayvon rally to declare that the problem with today's youth was all the fault of the fa**ots and Jews)

The judge lives 300 miles away, and he's retiring at the end of this term.

I'm speechless. As in so many things the "self promotors" only vested interest is themselves not of the people who actually live in the community where this monster will be housed. I truly hope that the system will listen to reason.
What really bothers me is the contract company who has been placed in charge feels they are confident, not 100 percent adamant that they can keep the public safe. Every young girl and woman in that area will become a potential victim.

I'm off to get some sleep and I don't know if this would help but it's a start. I would have every woman and parents of any girl under the age of 18 who this man will live within a 3 mile radius go down to the courthouse and file for a restraining order. It may get the right people take notice.

That might be a good idea. I think a restraining order requires a personal threat, though. I'll toss it to somebody.

I think the best bet for the judge to reverse will be on the background of the property owner, but that story hasn't hit the papers/news sites yet.

I'm afraid all it will do is delay the inevitable, but even that can be a fight worth having.

That sounds like a good idea.

It seems that California is big enough and has enough isolated areas that they could find a place for them. Perhaps they could even do public service type jobs in isolated areas, such as counting grains of sand in Death Valley. They don't have to put them in the middle of the city, do they?

They are attempting to put him in an isolated corner of the designated county (Death Valley is in another county). Assuming he doesn't rape an immediate neighbor who reports it in the first week or so (and he once grabbed a woman the very same day he got out of jail), he is going to have to have a car. The nearest real collection of stores is 15 miles away, and it's about 3 miles to the nearest bus stop He'll have appointments to get to, groceries to buy and bring home, and it's a safe assumption he'll want to make a Walmart run from time to time. Temporarily disabling a GPS anklet is just a matter of wrapping it in the right material while sitting in a parking lot, and driving away, then unwrapping it when he is ready to re-appear, and throwing the evidence out the window.

I said community activists, Joether, not community organizers. You know. People who do it without a fat grant to pay their salaries and put gas in the euro-SUV's. The latter are the ones who fucked the credibility of the effort with their disaster of a press conference, and their pre-printed letters on unrelated special interest group letterhead. Every single one of them is a vocal Democrat.

Yesterday I read a interesting and relevant article.
Two men were arrested for committing four murders a year ago.
Once they had focused on them they went back and checked the data
from their ankle bracelets.
One had a bracelet from California.
The other got his from the Feds.
Al they did was add a nail when they had already figured it out, a year
after the fact.
Yep, ankle bracelets should make everyone feel safe.

I knew that there were ways to disable those devices, but it still seems disconcerting that their signal would disappear temporarily and no one would notice. One sort of gets the impression that these things are continuously monitored, but I guess not. (I pictured a large control room with a giant screen with a map with tiny dots indicating GPS anklet signals, with some alarm going off immediately if the signal was ever broken. I'll admit that must have been a very naive perception on my part.)
