In the latest issue of Prevention they mention how Pelvic Floor Disorders can cause a lot of issues with pain, including vulvar vestibulitis, endometriosis, interstitial cystitis and bowel disorders.

Pelvic floor disorders are so often misdiagnosed and sometimes flat out ignored, treated as a simple fact of life. The medical community is staggeringly unaware of how to diagnose and treat some of the very common issues. A physical therapist can definitely play a major role in a woman's pain management. Unfortunately, I know too many women whose doctors' never even suggested it.

Of all the times I have seen women complain of pain I have never seen anyone mention it here
I did not even know it existed until I read the article.

OK, I'll mention it. Endometriosis, hemorrhagic pelvic cysts, runaway fibroids, PCOS, insanely long, heavy periods to the point of severe anemia. My whole adult life has included debilitating pelvic pain.

Worst thing I let the docs do? Cut and paste over and over trying to slice out the problem. Bullsh*t. Should have never let them touch me. I pay the price every single day for that in terms of botched surgeries, missing organs, painful scar tissue, atrophied tissues, damaged nerves, elimination difficulties, and a weak pelvic floor.

Best thing I've done to treat: Low-dose BCPs from teenage through menopause, regular E-stim using custom-designed programs, yoga, bio-identical HRT of estradiol AND progesterone (docs tell you without a uterus you won't need progesterone; that's crap!), 50 mg DHEA daily, a home-compounded version of Estrace cream (PM for the 'recipe'; it's $160 to buy in the pharmacy and less than a dollar to make yourself) and LOTS of orgasms.

I completely agree. (Especially with the orgasms part. They really do help!) I haven't experienced too much in the way of issues, but with the bit I have, the doctors were completely helpless how to help me except to suggest an unnecessary surgery with high risk of failure. No thank you. I've learned to manage it myself and for the most part have done pretty well.
