I found this commercial on the net ( http://www.gagreport.com/funny_commercials_ikea_uptight.htm ).  Even for mainstream it seems toned down.  I am suprised it was banned.  What about you guys?

Either way its kinda funny.

What I cant figure out is why everyone keeps tagging these as "baned". is it just because so many people use that word as a search term so people include it in the video discription to increase search result ranking? Or is it just that we Americans think that anythign not being broadcast in our country must be due to some blockage of some sort?

Anyway, my favorite one is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yE7Zw01bRgE

Banned or no, it is amasing how badly some react tosome sexual content in a movie. In Deredevil, the villan Bullseye kills the charecter Elextra rather nastily, he stabs her brutaly whit a sai, well that is all fine and good, but when he bend down and forcefully kiss her, it go up in rating so young folks can not go and see it. Aka, big brutal murder, ok, one rather inosent forced kiss, not ok, go figure.

Banned? I saw that commercial many times when I lived in CA where an
IKEA store was a short drive away. They had another one that was funnier
but I can't remember the content.

Nephandi
the supossed innocent kiss IMPLIES sex with a dead person is OK.
It doesn't matter that the body is a fresh kill. It doesn't matter how
she died. It matters what's done to a dead body.

I don’t think they are banned they are just not shown or shown late at night on cable. The first one seems pretty harmless but the one that showed a vibrator being mistaken for a toy rocket ship would never be shown on primetime in the US on regular TV.

They could be banned in some countries though

well yes there has been blockage not of the FCC type but....

http://www.ciadvertising.org/SA/fall_02/adv382j/slp1102/ikea.htm

The commercial's director told the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. that it was not important to be the first company to show a gay couple together, and that he was surprise that no one had done it before. Although IKEA accepted the ad, the retailer still had some uneasy feelings. The spot ran only in New York City and Washington, D.C. after 9:30 in fear if exposing it to children, and it was not seen nearly as often as the rest of the campaign. The IKEA ad disappeared only a few weeks after it began when the retailer got a bomb threat at a store from conservatives, along with calls for a boycott.
This puts IKEA in a hard position.  It is understandable why the ads were pulled, but unfortunate.  The company was trying to take a stand but was forced back because of protest.  The company needs customers to survive and cannot remain in business with threats of boycotts.  Pulling the ads shows the stance that individuals in the United States are taking in regards to advertising dealing with uncomfortable issues

MrrPete, she was not dead at the time, she was dying, this was a marvel movie, one had to have a long, sobbing drawn out death sene first.

I just really like the ads that IKEA runs in general, amd had not seen these. I like them, and think they are different and funny, and not over the top by any means. I am in the DC area, and unfortunately did not catch them on the air or cable. I think IKEA went with a non-traditional cute approach to things, and sometimes that upsets some people. The thing is, sometimes the few people upset by things like this have a HUGE voice, or at least know who to call. Maybe more of us that like the ads should find out who to call in support??
