BenevolentM -> Salvation of Prostitutes (4/30/2014 12:42:15 PM)

I happened by a IFC film that depicted a woman who is broke and turns to prostitution. I lost interest in the film, but the film did get me thinking. She was inexperienced. A man picked her up for a hand job. One of the things he negotiated with her was he wanted her to talk dirty. She naively told him the truth when he asked her why was she doing this? She said it was because she was broke. What he wanted her to say was she was a horny slut. He admitted that he found her desirable. To me this should lower the barrier for compassion. Human love is imperfect. Though imperfect it is still real. Why aren't the men moved to compassion and say what can I do to get you out of having to do this? Perhaps men are and we just don't hear about it. Perhaps they don't because such feeling is impractical. If so, why would it be? If it is because he is married, I do not see that as an excuse. But perhaps it is unwise because such women cannot be trusted or the system cannot be trusted. Or perhaps it is because it costs money and it is a lot cheaper just to exploit her circumstances than to be of assistance to her.

BM, seriously. Why did you give this thread that title, phrased in that way? You must have known what buttons it would press. *Are* you trolling?

FelineRanger -> RE: Salvation of Prostitutes (4/30/2014 4:04:47 PM)

The salvation of prostitutes is the worldwide legalization of prostitution and the cessation of persecution of all sex workers.

Yes.......What the fuck has this to do with BDSM ?

FieryOpal -> RE: Salvation of Prostitutes (5/2/2014 12:35:27 AM)

Verily, I'll withhold my opinion on this matter publicly or else it might appear to be male-bashing.

I just wanted to give OP some moral support that you have a compassionate quality that many don't possess.

It's also possible the man in the film is so jaded and disconnected that he wouldn't be moved by anyone's hard-luck story, of either gender.
Sadly, you are in the minority.

Bless you.

Dvr22999874 -> RE: Salvation of Prostitutes (5/2/2014 12:39:54 AM)

I agree wholeheartedly with FelineRanger. Prostitution is the second oldest proffession, so why not accept it and those that work in it ?

SinFix -> RE: Salvation of Prostitutes (5/2/2014 6:42:52 AM)

Ok, I will give my two cents..

I think those are valid questions, I'm sure maybe a few men have offered to help get them out of the situation but not many. I feel that they don't because in those situations the male is specifically looking for one thing and they probably dehumanize the female to an extent that it is just a means to an end not taking the bigger picture into context.

OriginalRebel -> RE: Salvation of Prostitutes (5/2/2014 7:58:22 AM)

Men often offer young girls help to get out of prostitution but many girls will remain in prostitution through fear. Sometimes its safer to remain with a pimp or the mob that own them because the fear of consequences are too great. Other girls (a lot) are on 'crack'. Crack addicts don't think about a better life away from prostitution but about their next score. Some girls enjoy it because it gives them independence and they see nothing wrong with what they are doing.

I'm pro prostitution providing the girls enjoying her work, doing it cleanly and living well off her earnings.

True....this doesn't have anything to do with BDSM. It's a shame we don't have a place on these message boards where we can talk about subjects not related to BDSM. We could even call it "Off Topic Discussions"....

Or, for that matter, writing? Disjointed as all hell.

If there is a brandy made by Benedictine monks, I am sure a salve can be fashioned for prostitutes.

Is there no balm in Gilead?

I think Benedictine is actually a liqueur. There is "B&B" which is Benedictine cut with brandy and much cheaper while retaining some of the original flavor.

Your fru-fru imitation flavored "Hazlenut Coffee" is really trying to approximate the flavor of Coffee with Benedictine. Hmm, I still have some Benedictine in the cabinet. Where did I put that espresso pot?

Now, back on point. Prostitution. There comes a time when you have to differentiate between human trafficking and sex workers. I remember a huge furor when prostitutes in the New Orleans area (around 1980) tried to unionize. Today, if you are convicted of a count of solicitation in New Orleans you can find yourself put on the registry of sex offenders along side the child molesters.

"Happy Hooker?" Is trying to rescue a prostitute a bit of "white knight syndrome" or just massive hubris?

For thought:

Is the drug addicted boyfriend that pimps out his girlfriend for a living guilty of human trafficking?

Do prostitutes really want to be rescued or is that a myth used to glean more money from a john?

Would you trust anyone that paid you for sex to help you at all?

If only there were. It would make the wounded whole, and heal the sin-sick soul.

Hazelnut coffee comes close, though.

ThePrincessKali -> RE: Salvation of Prostitutes (5/3/2014 11:54:32 AM)

I think a lot of men dehumanized/take advantage of women all the time.
Especially when they're horny. It happens in many different situations, not just prostitution or among sex workers. I had a friend who was an escort. A guy tried to take advantage of her desperate financial situation by telling her they had sent money via western union in exchange for sex (she was naive I know) and she slept with him and he never sent the money. She was devastated. I've applied for personal assistant jobs and have had the employer ask me if I would have "fun" with him for an extra bonus bc I "needed the job." I told him to stick it where the sun don't shine. Being a fin Domme we encounter a lot of guys who want us to get their rocks off but avoid the financial aspect that benefits us. Guys will call girls they've dated a couple times for a 2am booty call bc they know the girl likes them but they just want sex. It isn't just the sex industry where men dehumanize women and don't show them compassion. It's the sad truth that many think with their lower head instead of the upper one.

thompsonx -> RE: Salvation of Prostitutes (5/3/2014 1:38:15 PM)

I find it amusing that you would take this one encounter and extrapolate it to be all encounters with prostitutes...that is mindnumbingly ignorant.

Crack(which is purefied cocaine) is not addictive... check the pdr.

Those are the ones I frequent.

This is absolutely true. All the proof you need is to read CM profiles. There are so many guys on here who are just looking for NSA play and you can't help but think that they see submissives as an easy target. I mean....the girl IS submissive isn't she? Except when they find a naive submissive girl on CM they get a girl who would give them all the kinky sex they want....without having to shell out any money to her. Basically.....a prostitute for free.

FieryOpal -> RE: Salvation of Prostitutes (5/4/2014 12:21:50 AM)

Damn, at least we get offered money & gifts, even those of us who don't ask for tribute.

Plus you've got all these fake "Doms" prowling around, looking for bj's on demand. [:'(]

P.S. I have two jars of replicated Balm of Gilead. I can send you one, but we'd have to work something out. [;)]
