I have had a long distance relationship with a slave for the past 4 months. We are both products of long term lifestyle relationships (over 20 years each, each of our partners died over the past several years). We met online, seem to share a fair amount of common ground and, despite the distance (we are about 2 ½ hours drive) and demanding job schedules, have managed to see each other once or twice a week. Of course, we talk and email daily numerous times. The relationship has been strained as well by some additional factors not particularly pertinent to this topic.
Neither of us has previous experience with long distance relationships and both of us dislike it enormously but we are not settled/comfortable enough yet in the relationship such that we feel it appropriate for one of us to move. One of the major problems we face is the administration of discipline for serious breaches of our understandings. We both believe that discipline should be swift and certain but when the appropriate response would call for physical contact (spanking, flogging, etc.) and we can’t get together for days it leaves us both very uncomfortable. I know of many ways to discipline without physical contact for lesser breaches but can’t seem to think of anything appropriate to take the place of physical contact for those that I consider more serious.
Are there practical alternatives?
