I don't really know if this is the appropriate section for this, or if the equiptment section is- but mods this is where I put it, feel free to move it if it feels misclassified...

So, we are pretty into nipple play here.

but lately- mine have been getting really...well...bruised.
Soreness for days.
He's mostly just been using his hands over the nipple clamps- and I've never experienced lingering problems like this before. I do have VERY sensitive nipples and usually our little nipple clamps leave me in a puddle on the floor (They are adjustable tweezer style clamps from Adam and Eve, nothing fancy). I really can't stand having them on longer than a matter of minutes because the pain just escalates beyond anything I can handle and it makes me very distracted, which he doesn't like, so he switched to a more "hands on approach"- which allows me to play longer, but then I can barely wear a bra comfortably for several days after. He wants to use clover clamps eventually- but we are starting to think I might not be able to, if I can't handle what he does on his own. We have already tried just normal clothespins- but they kept snapping off too quickly.

Will my tolerance eventually grow?
Is there anything I can do to stop the lingering soreness?
Or is this maybe just not something I can pursue?

Its a bit frustrating, as I usually have a solid pain tolerance, and I'd really like to be able to explore further.

Nipple clamps can do permanent damage to nerves if you are not careful. Tight clamps can be used for no longer than 10 to 15 minutes without risking permanent damage. Put on loosely clamps can be on for longer periods. You do not develop a tolerance to having the clamps used for longer than a safe length of time.

For the soreness I would suggest using some ice immediately after play. That might lessen any swelling the nipples are experiencing. Heat over the next few days might aid in healing.

It comes down to this. If you use a part of the body roughly, then expect there to be some tissue damage that will require time to heal. If you dislike the pain you experience in the days afterward then you and your partner will have to come to some decision on what okay and what is too much. Your body is telling you something. Listen to it.

My tolerance has never grown. However I can't handle tweezer style clamps because all the pressure is on a very small part. I find the ones that spread the pressure out over the areola to be a lot easier to handle. When it's all concentrated in just one spot, it's too much.

I'd never be able to handle clover clamps.

Try something like this; http://thepleasurechest.com/broad-tip-adjustable-nipple-clamps-9782-prd1.htm

Pain is usually the body's way of telling you that it is being harmed in some way ;)

That being said....why don't you try some of those "clamps" that are more like a piece of cord that is looped around the nipple and tightened kind of like a neckerchief slide..??? I can't think of the right terminology, but I've had them used on me in the past. They've still got bite, but not the kind of pain that metal clamps cause.

Aha! found some....

Hormonal changes can greatly affect nipple sensitivity. Could you be pregnant? Have you recently started or changed birth control pills or equivalent such as a Mirena IUD or Depo injection?

shiftyw -> RE: Nipples (5/16/2014 3:07:44 AM)

Not pregnant. (at least not as of last month, this has been happening since then)
No changes in birth control.

Not even any changes in thyroid treatment...?

The major change recently was switching from him using the clamps for like 2 minutes, to him using his hands off and on for the whole time...

I'll look into those loopy things, they look nice.

[&o]But, but...*sigh* ok, I'll tell him to tone it down. I don't know how any woman survives a child through breast feeding (I'm aware its different, and that is mostly sarcasm, mostly...)

MistressDarkArt -> RE: Nipples (5/17/2014 11:10:12 AM)

^^^Heheh, as a member of the ultra-sensitive nipple club (and not in any good way), I wouldn't have survived breast feeding kids if I'd had them.

DesFIP -> RE: Nipples (5/18/2014 7:43:43 PM)

Nursing was okay. But the moment they decided to bite instead, they were weaned.

kiwisub12 -> RE: Nipples (5/20/2014 3:23:48 PM)

I never could handle clover clamps - the pain was so intense, I felt that I couldn't breath.
*sigh* and my nipples are so thick that there are few clamps that will stay on.
