I am currently in my third year of college... although since I switched my major from education to social work I am more or less back to square one.  (Guess that will teach me to transfer to a school with a rigid social work curriculum! lol)  I am also most likely going to minor in psychology since I'm only one class away from filling their requirements.

Not taking any summer classes (just moved almost 100 miles to go to the school I'm in now) since I have too many other things on my plate (and no real money to be able to do it.)  The classes I am taking for the fall are: Cultural Anthropology, American Government, Life Span Development, Poverty & Social Welfare and Intro to Social Work and Social Welfare.

I also just started grad school. Getting my PhD in chemistry and doing a full teaching assistance-ship in chemistry and research at the University.

Not taking any summer classes this semester even though I usually do. I was registered for a class in Dreamweaver but it got canceled :(
I'm about 4 credits away from an Associates in business and in the fall I will be going to NYIT to work on my Bachelors advertising. I'm nervous and excited and worried most of all that I will never have time to sleep. I'm sure it will be worth it though

I took Bus Adm. in college after getting out of the military.
Funny thing, I had already learned most of what they were teaching in the military plus I enjoyed reading books on Economics and investing.
Thirty years ago you could get a job in the Federal govt. without a degree. Most of those jobs were office work. Now, for whatever reason they require "degrees" to be a paper shuffler!
For most of those jobs you don't really need a "degree". Seems we now have GS-14's sitting at desks writing "memos" to each other and making $85k for doing so!
It used to be an exclusive thing to have a degree.
Now they're not only a dime a dozen they're a dime a ton!
I was told one time by a V.A. councilor that they even had degrees for "Learning Disabled!" Is that like a Lifeguard certicicate for someone who can't swim?
If "anyone" can get a degree what are they worth?
Carried to their illogical conclusion in ten years you'll need a B.S. to say; "would you like fries with that?"
Whatever happenned to "OJT" or Experience?

Im getting my paperwork together to apply to graduate schools in Southern California to work on obtaining my PhD in socio cultural anthropology. I would like to expand what I did my undergraduate work on, which concentrated heavily on globalization,  and political economy theory

Looks like there's a lot of submissive graduate students.

Currently I'm in the middle of my doctorate program in Clinical Psychology.  As many grad students can attest, the hamster wheel of education doesn't stop for the summer so yes, I'm attending school year round.  My coursework right now involves Integrative Assessment (testing), Lifestyle Development, Addictive Disorders, and the ever popular "Psychodynamics of Psychopathology."  I know, makes you want to run right out and sign up.

*smile*  Now there's an observation.  I wonder what the real numbers on self-identified submissive graduate students would be.  Let's hope they're not all on account of secret professor fetishes and attachment to the little school-girl uniform.

My Owner and I are both starting graduate school this fall in San Jose (and trying to find "the community" thre, if anyone can give us pointers).

He's studying Biology/Ecology with an emphasis on evolution and plans on teaching community college. I'm going to study Library and Information Science with an empahsis and public youth work and want to go into the public library system.

I've been out of school a year and miss it.

I'm not in school, but my husband is going back next month.  He'll be a second semester freshman in Electrical Engineering Technology major at Purdue University.  It'll be a hard four years, especially since I'm having our first child in a few weeks, but it will be completely worth it in the long run.  I'm really very excited for him, and for our little family.

*waves hello* Well, I guess I'm not the only one around here then. Just finished the first year of my master's in mech E, and one more to go.

LOL.  Howdy.  It's good to know I'm not the only one stranded over here.  (I don't mean that.  I love Lafayette.)    And hey, congrats on being halfway done with your masters!  I have a couple of friends going for their doctorates, and I'm exhausted from just hanging out with them.  LOL.  Good luck!

(By the way, ignore the extraneous word "major" in my original post.  I didn't self-edit very well earlier.)

Thank you much - it's a favorite of mine and one I find very applicable in this environment.  Thanks for noticing. :)

Master sent me back to school this year to finish my Business Management degree.  I was not able to go to school when I was married.  I am working full time and figuring out how to juggle classes for the first time in 20 years.  Ugh!

And what would be wrong with that, darling?

As other folks have posted their life in academe, I will too.

Lawyer, author, lecturer, law school professor.  I practice law, and teach several seminar level courses, and lecture on legal ethics around the country.  I also write poems, and erotic fiction.  I wonder some days if I should intentionally accidentally put the sexy stories in the envelope to the law publisher, and the latest article on revisions to the Model Rules of Professional Conduct in the OTHER envelope...and see which editor catches on first?

Everyone has such lofty goals.

I'm working towards my Mrs. Degree, with a focus on laying next to the pool, being spoiled, and driving kids around in my Hummer H2 (which would have to be provided, of course). So far it's not going so well.

GRIN.  Ah, Texas girls.  One reason I LOVE going down to UT and lecturing.
