In studying Chinese I knew that the word in chinese for Responsible can be used as a verb.
but in English it is only a noun or adjective. I did not know that this was the case in translating english words to other languages as well.

I would like to learn how many English words which are for examples only nouns and adjectives in English can be used as verbs in other languages.

One thing though, when translating the word in Chinese back to English, even the Chinese sentence uses a 'verb to be' along with the word responsible. Humm. I can't get my head around this

Then why did you even respond. And, why, pray tell the vulgarity in your response?

how bout we start with, in English the word responsible is ONLY an adjective, I thought it might also be used as an adverb but not according to Webster's. responsibility on the other hand is a noun!

Thank you Bityakin, but the point is this, in other languages such as in Chinese, the word responsible can be used as a verb. I learned that there are many such words like this in English which are nouns or adjectives but in other languages can be used as verbs.

The word, 'Responsible is just one example. My question is this, what other words in the English language, fit into this scenario?

FR

I'm not sure if this is exactly what you seek, but I love the French verb préciser, "to make precise." I'm sometimes tempted to use it while editing.

dcnovice, it is fun to see words such as that but hope there someone can mention some words which are used as only say nouns and adjectives but in a different language can be used as a verb.
