FireHeroX -> Does any have Shibari listed under a "Hate"? (6/22/2014 10:39:49 PM)

Or ever seen a profile like that?

I know some people who hate bondage.
Why does this matter to you?

Shouldn't you look for people who love the same things you do instead?

Sometimes I like to look outside my own personal worldview. It can be a rich learning experience.

I know people who hate chocolate. I'm not sure how that enriches my experience except knowing not to bake a chocolate cake if they come over.

But yes, many bottoms find that the long time it takes to patiently stand there while rope is carefully applied is boring. If you don't enjoy the feel of rope, then you aren't going to like the process.

Rope bottoms find the rope to be the good part. Those that don't much prefer quicker restraints so they don't need to wait an hour before they get to the good parts.

Does that help you understand their reactions?

Des is right. From a dominant side, it's gorgeous to see and I don't have it as a "hate", but it's nothing I would ever do as I'm just not patient enough. [:D]

"Hate" as "dislike" can be for many reasons.

GoddessManko -> RE: Does any have Shibari listed under a "Hate"? (6/24/2014 2:30:40 PM)

Honestly my favorite part of Shibari is application, the process, the binding tighter and tighter. Something about it, I love it. I truly LOVE rope so it would sadden me if my sub didn't enjoy it as much as me. My eyes light up delight when restraining someone, it takes no more than 10-15 mins even for more complex forms of rope restraint. I mean it literally often takes less than 5 mins if you know what you're doing. Since it excites me, I start slowly but before I know it I'm going faster and faster with the process. My brain just loves it, the more rope, the better.
Edited to add: Suspension combined with that then would take some more time, but I can imagine for a sub being hung from the air while in bondage is quite thrilling, even for the most fickle.

FR~

I'm probably like a lot of people... I like to see the finished result but as Des said - the bit between the start and the end is just sooo b-o-r-i-n-g.
I appreciate the art of it but I'd be bored out of my skull after a few moments.
No more than 10-15 minutes??
Sheeesh! No way.
Cuffs: 5 seconds or less.

I'm one of those that want to get started with the action.
If the preparation starts running into minutes - forget it.

So, to answer OP, I wouldn't have it as a "hate" but certainly a strong dislike because of the wait.

I hear you freedomdwarf but I find most other restraints like cuffs lazy and generic. It's nice to see differences in D's even in matters of bondage. And 5 mins was me being generous with time depending on the length of the rope and how many body parts are being bound as an FYI. Plus bondage puts me almost in Domme space so I have little to no perception of time. I can only be sure it's less than 5 mins. Can be less than 2 for all I know. :)

Its not a personal fav of mine I guess I am not opposed to it, it just seems to have an awful lot of respect and the one thing I have never seen under a hate or hard limit. I agree, it can look cool, but more efficient bondage entices me alot more.

PandoraFoxxx -> RE: Does any have Shibari listed under a "Hate"? (6/24/2014 9:11:06 PM)

It has an awful lot of respect because it is a honed skill that takes a great deal of time and practice to master. Say what you want about it, but there is *no* denying it is an artform that takes talent and commitment. As someone who has been into bondage my entire life - since being tied up with a jump rope at age 7 - I appreciate all forms of rope bondage, from simple, quick ties to bind legs or arms, to the more elaborate and amazing ropework and suspension. It goes beyond functionality and becomes art at that point.

To address the time these things take, it's all about preference. Personally - the long time it takes to weave and knot rope to bind a submissive in an elaborate design is often times very much a part of the scene. It's a foreplay of sorts. Especially for those of us who have a fetish for it.[:D]

He does more damsel in distress than shibari. But new ties, or ones involving very long pieces of rope can take up to an hour. That's the longest tie I've experienced. It was a rope corset made from one 100' long piece of rope.

There's something very relaxing for me about long applications of rope.

If you use 10' sections, the ties go quicker. You just keep attaching a new piece to the end of an old one if you don't have enough.

shiftyw -> RE: Does any have Shibari listed under a "Hate"? (6/25/2014 12:04:06 PM)

I can't effing stand it. I'm not sure its under hate on my profile, but it should be...

Its pretty and I can respect those that do it, but I don't find it appealing at all. AT. ALL.

In fact for me its dreadfully boring. I'm fat so it looks awful and does nothing but make me look and feel fatter. I'm never going to be able to sit there and wait while someone works their "magic" and while being suspended would really add a lot to it, due to health problems and my weight, there isn't ANY WAY I'm letting someone dangle me in the air.

I also just really like the feel of metal over rope or even leather. We have some leather tie downs that we use, but cuffs are far and by none our favorite form of bondage, no contest.

orgasmdenial12 -> RE: Does any have Shibari listed under a "Hate"? (6/27/2014 3:44:35 PM)

I find it really boring, uncomfortable and pretentious. Until recently it was a hard limit, now it's somewhere in the hates / tolerates zone.

Lots of things take skill, but if they're not sexually satisfying then they're not interesting for me to do. I like leather cuffs - quick, easy, comfortable for long periods and brutally effective. I like to get to the sensation play as fast as possible.

submissionholly -> RE: Does any have Shibari listed under a "Hate"? (7/3/2014 3:31:40 AM)

i've recently met a rockclimber, so he's quick and good with his knots! i thought i wouldn't be into it so much and had always preferred quick no-fuss ciffs previously. Yeah I can understand if you're not into the physical sensations elicited by ropes then its gonna be hella boring for the however long it takes. its just a prop in the end though, wouldn't be nearly as exciting without the sudden jerks/whispered dirty words/what have you
