The question IS: Will gun control reduce gun related deaths? That is the question that anyone interested (whether pro or anti) in the gun control issue must answer before even considering any other questions regarding constitutional law, liberty and the value of human life.

California runs pretty heavy on gun control laws, but the gang bangers seem to be making do pretty well, Marc. Now if you are talking about a full-scale ban and confiscation of private firearms, then I'm sure the number of gun deaths would drop, after the civil war.

BamaD, don't you think you are gloating a little bit too much about people being stabbed? It's getting quite creepy actually, I suppose a decent human being should be something in the sorry area of the emotional spectrum.

I am not gloating at all, I am making a point.
To the left any mention of death by any means other than a firearm is gloating.

Honestly that's not the impression you give, both in this and the Must have used a knife thread there is a big "told you so" implied that's quite disturbed. At some point hearing that a disabled person got arsoned alive by a family member should start other thought than "they had no guns, ergo they had it coming".

By the way if in DC there were, in addition to the gun ban, also stop and frisk policies, I'm sure crime would have harder time than allowing concealed carry with no restrictions.

A There was no such thing in my mind that they didn't have guns so they had it coming. It was evil will find a way.
B There is no place in the country which allows concealed carry with no restrictions.
C I consider stop and frisk without reasonable probable cause to be unconstitutional, so do the courts. What you are saying is that if only we had a police state.....

A No I don't believe you, because or it's this or you wouldn't find a connection with the point you are advocating for. You are now hiding behind a finger, the title you chosed fot this thread is simply mocking the victims.

B probably you are right using no I simplified my answer too much, let say as much restriction as in alaska.

C You are right, the other effective option to a police state is adress the problem at federal level otherwise as many pointed out guns can be brought in from other states with ridiculous gun laws.

That's right Lucy, kids are killing kids with and without guns.

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2014/08/05/boy-12-stabs-year-old-boy-at-michigan-playground-police-say/

KENTWOOD, Mich. – A 9-year-old boy died after being repeatedly stabbed by a 12-year-old boy at a playground in western Michigan, police said Tuesday.

That's because there's a law that people obey putting fences around pools.

The problem here isn't the guns, but the irresponsible gun-owners in these instances.

Yes that is a big part of the problem, yet I never hear about the gun owners being charged with anything. Maybe if they started enforcing the laws that are already out there, people wouldn't be so resistant to more being put in place.

Musicmystery -> RE: Thank God he didn't have a gun (8/11/2014 8:26:23 AM)

Yeah. Losing their children somehow doesn't do the job. Something more serious than that...

quizzicalkitten -> RE: Thank God he didn't have a gun (8/11/2014 8:44:53 AM)

It's a moot point as responsible gun owners don't let kids play with guns.

The same irresponsible parents will let their children play with other equally dangerous items if guns aren't around.

The irresponsible parent should be jailed but that's unlikely because ya know grieving parents blah blah blah

And every time you or some other gun a phobe starts a thread about a shooting isn't gloating? You don't get to play by a different set of rules than you expect me too. Your crime rate is pretty much unaffected by your draconian laws, ours is dropping rapidly without them. Maybe you should mind your own business.
Your comment about unrestricted concealed carry proves conclusively that when it comes to American gun laws you don't have a clue.

I'm curious what are those draconian laws in my country?

edit: I don't hear of people electrocuted shot choked or beaten by a cop as often as in the usa, I don't get arrested for any minor infraction, you don't see here people sentenced to long convictions on non violent crimes.

And even O'bummer commented that 'only in America' do you get sooo many gun deaths and shootings compared to any other first-world countries.

Dropping rapidly??? I don't think so.
If that were the case, you'd have hit zero decades ago... and you haven't.
The facts disprove your theory.

well you actually live in a de facto federal police state, and this is mainly because of the fuckload of guns in your streets.

Obama being against me is just more proof that I am right.

No federal action is because people in the government want more control, one of the excuses is guns.

Show me any other first world country where crime is dropping as fast as in the U S. Drop is crime is the measure of whether you are doing things right.
And unlike gunaphobics I realize they are just as dead when pushed out a window as when shot.

freedomdwarf1 -> RE: Thank God he didn't have a gun (8/11/2014 12:57:44 PM)

Try answering the question instead of obfuscating.

We don't need to show any faster dropping of rates because our rates are waay waay less than the US.

You have more gun deaths per year in the US than you lost to the Afghan war since 2001.
"As of 24 July 2014, there have been 3,366 coalition deaths in Afghanistan as part of ongoing coalition operations (Operation Enduring Freedom and ISAF) since the invasion in 2001"

And they are virtually unchanged since before you got your wonderful gun laws so they didn't help.

So answer the question that you rebuked by declaring that your opposition to O'bummer proved you right.

Name any first-world country that has a higher gun-death rate than the US.

C'mon... show me and everyone else on here that you aren't just bullshitting.

True freedom we in America have a lot of guns... it's why when anyone anywhere else in the world has a scuffle they ask us for help... comparing the us to another nation is silly because it's Apple to oranges

The U S murder rate with blunt objects is higher than the murder rate in most countries.
