AKinkCounselor -> Idealised Corruption. (9/11/2014 8:50:09 AM)

I nearly posted this as an extension of the other thread I did, but thought it deserved one of its own... If you wanted to create a political system that protected and haboured those with power, that gave them the ability to promote and accelerate their own self interests, would it look like democracy? Is democracy corruption perfected. You might start with some form of dictatorship, but then you have the problem of keeping the people in line, they have a single point of blame, if something is wrong with the country it is the dictator's fault. So they rise up and before you know it you're stumbling around looking for your head. So instead you want a system that lets people fight each other, that promotes disagreement, that creates party lines to argue along, that lets you run a constant 'blame them' attitude. You then make it hard enough to influence that people become apathetic towards being able to change anything. Before you know it, you have democracy. I accept that this is a very facetious question, there is perhaps a degree of moulding the situation to the facts. But as with all good facetious questions, it is absolutely serious. If you were making this argument in a court, what would your proof points be, what evidence would you produce to say this is true. What evidence would prove it isn't.
