The marks you get from caning are gone within a few hours? I must be a delicate flower 'cause the last time I was caned there were sizable welts that started off as deep red and then turned dark purple before going through the rest of the bruising stages that lasted for several days. Dang! :\

Oh marks, how I love thee! Nothing worse than getting a good beating and nothing to see afterwards. My Domme and I have been playing for a year and 5 months. I get spanked, whipped with a variety of nasty things on a regular basis so it is harder for certain areas to mark. I love to look at them the next few days and I have posted a lot on a blog so I can go back and look at them. I have had marks that caused a little embarrassment, one time She whipped the hell out of my thighs and I was at my relatives house and had shorts on and got asked about them. Damn football game! Another time the single tail hit me on the neck, I thought my business shirts were covering it but one of my customers notices and made a comment, luckily he was a kinky fker too. Along with these I have a few that are more permanent. She waxed me and the wax was a little too hot and I have some faint marking from that and with candle play I have about 4 or 5 distinctive circles that have not faded. Most recently I got a hit from the dragon tail as it wrapped onto my stomach. It actually tore flesh, I still have the remainder of that. She has never meant to mark me it just has happened, also I think because I have chrons that it takes me longer to heal. I have a pretty high tolerance for pain and love it the harder She goes (well sometimes not while it is happening) The marks that seem to be permanent I look at every morning in the mirror and smile, reminded of the 5'1" bundle of evil joy that inflicted them. Craving to be near her again so she can add more. They cause me to smile and be thankful She is in my life.

Oh yes, marks rock.

And yeah, "not publicly visible" was taken as a given.

Now... cane marks down to a couple of inches above the hemline... yeah.

I have always really enjoyed marks, feeling sore, or well used the next day. Not only does it feel like a sign of ownership of my body physically, but it also makes me feel closer to my Dom emotionally. Knowing and remembering what happened is a great way to feel connected.

Exactly me too. I don't think I'm a masochist....but I love to have marks to look at the next day or two.

ETA....only one time did I get a paddling where I actually felt the pain for a couple of days after. Apparently he broke skin a couple of times and that was why he stopped even though I didn't want him to. The bruises aren't very painful for me, but this one time where I had a few spots of broken skin meant I felt something every time I sat down AND stood up. I LOVED it!

Depends on where the marks is.

I hate hickeys on neck!!

But as long as it's not painful, marks is fine.

I get marks that last for a week, but there was no pain involve, I didn't feel any pain from the process. That's okay.

IF the mark was cause by something that brought physical pain to me, it's abuse.

And it's totally possible to whip and leave marks without pain with proper prepping of one's mental state. Turning pain into pleasure.

I am not maso by any stretch, but the resultant pain, soreness, stiffness, marks, bruises...they all make me feel more alive. And after-care is stupendous :-)

I don't mark easily these days, so no. The kind of things that leave lasting bruises on me are not sexy - broken toe, taking an elbow to the shin in martial arts class, etc. Marks/redness from light-to-medium caning, flogging, and spanking fades within a couple hours. I'm not nearly into pain play enough to enjoy a caning hard enough to leave me with bone bruises, or a bullwhip or something like that.

I used to like marks that lasted. Now, I've gotten to the point where the idea just about turns me off.

We get into some heavy marking sessions every once in a while. Currently am sporting cane marks down my stomach, butt, and thighs.... Weeeee what a weekend. I love my marks, although my butt doesn't hold them well. They kind of bleed into one another.

Wear skimpy beach togs, red, but kinda see-through enough to show stripes if they have landed right .. she gets me to wander around a bit on the beach.
For those who are interested, the stripes are there to see.

I love marks, I don't always love getting them but I always like them afterwards. It's like the person that gave them to me is still with me in some way, I smile when I look at them, like a pleb. I also feel like a stupid sense of pride, like I've lived through some difficult ordeal and my super duper bravado won through! :-)

I'm actually quite difficult to mark though, especially my bum. My bum is indestructible I think...or the pain involved would be more than I could take to make it possible. It goes red and gets welts but the marks rarely last more than a few hours.

i love marks! It's nice to see them later. It keeps the scene fresh in my mind for a while afterwards. The Lady i play with enjoys them, also, i think. i think what marks are to Her are, they are a visual of what She has done.

But, this is just me.
