ArchangelDavid -> The Rape of the Rose (10/22/2014 6:47:36 PM)

In gentle wind did the dance begin.
So free looked he, looming over she,
With brazen stare and lofty air.
The Rose did sigh, for she couldn't fly.
With roots too deep and a tap to keep.
No butterfly to the pious eye,
Her freedom song unsung too long.
Spine arched high, she caught his eye.
Pink petaled hue with glossy dew.
Sweet succor new he must pursue.
He dropped from flight with much delight.
Introductions, then seduction.
His words of praise conjure questions raised.
Mortal sin or alone with kin?
Give in to him or be alone again?
Charismatic dueled aromatic,
And suckered in by bronzen skin,
Questions honest gave in to promise.
And to his touch her heart did rush.
Though harshly rough, he got no rebuff.
Blossom parted and they imparted.
Noble savage that came to ravage
Topped off his flask, then dropped his mask.
Armored knight became parasite,
Morphing dreamscape to scene of rape.
Torn asunder beneath his hunger.
With no more wind, but much chagrin.
Slumped postures trace more dis than grace.
She prays again as she stands in pain,
But can't wheedle away from the beetle.

The idea for the Rape of the Rose originated by watching a Japanese beetle eat away at a rose bush in my back yard, anthropomorphised into a woman falling victim to a silver-tongued conniver that uses her and slowly destroys her.
For all of you ladies and gents that are feeling trapped in a destructive relationship that's slowly killing you, get the fuck out. Get the fuck out while there's enough of you left to seek out and give to someone worthy of you.

Peace, and angels on your pillow.
David
