FR

I love this thread.

The OP sends an email to someone else on a BDSM site.
The sendee doesn't respond to the OP's email.
The OP then declares this situation as:

(Can you almost hear trumpets blaring ominously? DUH, DUH, DUHHHHHH!)

"The Death Of Courtesy."

The whole thing seems a bit more drama queen than Dom.

No disrespect intended, however, I actually thought that I dunked your balls like a doughnut in piping hot coffee ... but OK. I basically said pretty much everything that people have said thus far, I just did it differently.

You did it with a Y chromosome. Half of us can't compete with that. LOL

I may have to move this thread to another section. [:D]

What a save! no butter.

DarkSteven -> RE: The Death Of Courtesy (10/24/2014 12:02:59 PM)

Oh, another point, OP - some people join, stay a few days, and never return. If you're writing an inactive profile, don't expect a response.

Spiritedsub2 -> RE: The Death Of Courtesy (10/24/2014 12:11:15 PM)

Maybe it's time for you to rethink that "demanding" thing.

MariaB -> RE: The Death Of Courtesy (10/24/2014 12:34:57 PM)

Wow, I should think he's left...just like most of the other new forum members leave [8|]

starkem -> RE: The Death Of Courtesy (10/24/2014 12:36:00 PM)

The fact that online means we don't get to see each other is the death of courtesy amongst the majority. No accountability is what we signed up for with Internet technology. This is not a criticism and I can understand your frustrations.

I do criticise the notion of reasonabileness and exhibiting considerations of empathy amongst the onliners. Further, there is no justification for such rudeness in the first place to condition one to exhibit it in response. In other words this is a technology that sufficient to communicate to not to request, expect or discuss the technologies failure in promoting courteous inclinations.

I know you OP have wondered why this can not be since the person supposed understands mannerisms and accepted social behaviors. However, it is asking too much. LOL

crazyml -> RE: The Death Of Courtesy (10/24/2014 1:15:26 PM)

I think the main issue is that you're forgetting that this is a kink site, not a fucking Jane Austen novel.

There are many reasons why someone might choose not to respond, but whatever the reason the result is that you and that person aren't destined to be life partners. Suck it up and move on

luxey2511 -> RE: The Death Of Courtesy (10/24/2014 1:19:00 PM)

do you like pizza? when you want pizza do you seek it out?
do you respond to every advertisement you get in the mail from the pizza joint that just opened down the block?
is that because of a lack of courtesy? no it's not. same as here.

Oh it's the weekly "I'm owed a response to my email but those rude people didn't send one" rant. I thought I'd missed it.

Yes, Irish Mist. Now go to your corner and start thinking about 7 billion other people. *sheesh* Who cares if you have other stuff to do! There are seven billion people that need your unknown cares and feels!

At least it's not yet another hugely popular, "Oh noes! The finDommes! Why do they exist? Even though I want to manifest my kink fantasies online they expect there to be an actual benefit other than giving me cheap thrills? Boo hoo."

quote:

The answer is that a polite no doesn't end it most of the time. It's the opposite. it just keeps it going. And usually I have ten other unanswered emails and a limited amount of time, and there's the one guy I DO want to spend 10-15 minutes devoting my time and attention to, not the guy I am rejecting who writes to me 2 minutes after I sent the "polite rejection" asking me for clarification and won't go away and then ten minutes later is calling me a cunt.

That is why we just ignore it most of the time.

Blame the other guys.

This is so ridiculously true it's almost scary, now you know OP.
Also as a side note you look reasonably nice but the whole "internet dwelling shut in" look is not working for you. I would take a couple of pics of a few travels, maybe things you enjoy, your dungeon...I don't know, give the girl some idea what she's getting into and your experience level? I apologize but your pic isn't incredibly captivating. Especially if you are trying to move her from what might be a comfortable existence as is. I don't know why some of you guys don't consider the females might be living reasonably well WITHOUT your "spoiling".
Like others said, we are talking about strangers on the internet who have no idea who you are, background or level of experience so best foot forward is best and handling rejection from a faceless entity is a part of that.

orgasmdenial12 -> RE: The Death Of Courtesy (10/24/2014 2:06:49 PM)

No answer IS an answer. It might not be the answer that you want, but it tells you everything you need to know. I see no logical reason why a person should be obliged to spend time responding and interacting with someone they do not wish to engage with. Any compulsion to do so is wishful thinking on your part.

If Sunny ever comes back and reanimates "sunny quote of the day", this one gets my vote :)

DerangedUnit -> RE: The Death Of Courtesy (10/24/2014 2:18:06 PM)

Yep, it's because you learn tp identify patterns and avoid patterns that are predictable and waste your time. Not that I'm one to talk about a death of courtesy.
