So ... does this help dyslexics? I ask, partly because I see you're dyslexic yourself, and partly because an old friend of mine is severely dyslexic and still finds reading difficult.

ETA: Bollocks, I forgot this was the humour section. Ignore the above!

LOL, actually, it made my dyslexia worse I think. I read it without a problem. My dyslexia works different ways (don't laugh). Sometimes I mix up right and left directionally, I use my thumbs to help me figure it out. I ALWAYS have to get adjusted to a new keyboard, once I do, I'm OK for the most part. I tend to mix up letters far less frequently than my right hand going faster than left and voila, typos, and sometimes I repeat typographically something I have typed before without realizing. It can appear my grammar and spelling are flawed when in reality they are impeccable with the right amount of effort on my part. Smaller windows, like the pop up ones where I have to scroll to read line by line make it harder to proofread, ergo I post it and read it thereafter. When I think I'm just merely a simpleton I remember sonoluminescence is the way light is produced by sound. [:D]

shiftyw -> RE: Can you read this? (10/28/2014 8:02:24 PM)

I have to use my thumbs all the time Manko. It took me forever to learn right from left.
I also spelled things completely backwards a lot.

ffo=off for example.

I never had a hard time reading- I did have a hard time, and continue to have a hard time spelling. Visualizing in my head is really really difficult for me. Math is a nightmare because of this. I also drew a lot of letters and numbers backwards for a long time.

The only thing that jumbled text makes me feel is vindicated in the whole "I can't read what you're typing" and I think people who tell me that can read what I'm writing- they're just being dicks and calling me out on grammar mistakes and typo.

MariaB -> RE: Can you read this? (10/29/2014 2:08:19 AM)

Im another thumb user. I can only seem to text message with my thumbs which isn't ideal. I also have difficulty comprehending things I can't visualize. Compass points, the clocks going back or forward and left and right are the sort of things I endlessly struggled with and still do to an extent. When you say visualizing shifty, do you mean visualizing an actual sum and visualizing a word? I absolutely can't visualize words unless its related to an image and this is why I have problems with words like "there, their, you're and your. If there's nothing I can relate it to in my minds eye...forget it! I've never thought about this before but I also have trouble with pop up windows with one liners... Interesting.

Peon, it doesn't help dyslexia but there are types of dyslexics that would find this text really difficult. "Surface Dyslexic" people have difficulty with 'whole word' recognition.

In what way did it make your dyslexia worse Manko?

bawdiness -> RE: Can you read this? (12/21/2014 8:18:15 AM)

Yeah, I read a while back it's relatively easy to read words if the first and last letters are right and the rest jumbled. Maybe a little dyslexia would help too.

InHisHeart -> RE: Can you read this? (12/21/2014 9:18:46 AM)

I had no problem reading it. I always knew I had a strange mind. ;)

SweetForDaddy -> RE: Can you read this? (12/21/2014 10:34:32 AM)

I could read it at almost normal speed. I love things like this.

Lucylastic -> RE: Can you read this? (12/21/2014 10:47:36 AM)

I can read it, normal speed, I can also read upside down and mirror writing.
Im not dyslexic but I have gawd alones trouble with left n right, n use my thumbs to figure out Left.
To get clockwise and anti clockwise I have to do it with my fingers and the same with Never Eat Shredded Wheat is a fine mnemonic, I use my fingers for any inbetween, ie NNW or SW.
When im out and about in Toronto, I remember that if the lake is behind me, Im going north. helps when Im in an unfamiliar location...ask a passerby where the lake is:)

PixyBell -> RE: Can you read this? (2/8/2015 11:35:10 PM)

Strange mind it is then. Didn't have any problems reading it nor did it slow down my reading.
No dyslexia btw
