So I have one vibrator that's been around for quite a while. I got it roughly 7 years ago, and it's been well used. In recent years it's been showing its age, mostly in the motor. It takes some coaxing at times to get it to work as it should, but once it gets going it does the job just as well.

I know full well it's due for a replacement soon. I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

One time recently I tried to use it and it took more than the usual coaxing to get it to work. I shook it, took out the battery and replaced it, etc. Nothing. Then I flipped the battery around and it worked fine. This surprised me, because this was the complete opposite orientation that it's required all this time. Where the (-) end was previously against the spring in the vibe's cap, the (+) took its place. And it started working again.

I'm not even sure if that makes sense. My knowledge of batteries and battery power objects is limited to "put it in like this and the object turns on." But what I do know is that at some point, either my battery reversed polarity (something I've never experienced or heard of before) or my vibrator did (ditto, but I find somewhat more believable.)

Next time I used it the polarity reversed again and it was back to "normal." I'm at a loss as to how or why this happens.
Anyone have a clue or experienced something similar?

A lot of small motors are DC powered. If you reverse the polarity in a DC motor, the motor simply spins in the opposite direction. Which is most likely the case wit your vibe.

Batteries left to run down for a prolonged period can reverse polarity... but it is probably what nitewing said.

That way, you can orgasm cumming or going.
